The Human Resource & Organization Department champions the people agenda for GIC. We are looking for a suitable candidate to join our Regional European HR team as an Associate, specialising in payroll and benefits.   



  • The subject matter expert when it comes to all tasks linked to payroll and taxation.
  • Accountable for the successful and accurate delivery of the payrolls (6 payrolls, a mix of standard and seconded staff payrolls, as well as a Lux and shadow NI payroll).
  • The collation, submission and updating of all payroll related adjustments in line with internal deadlines and processes.
  • Working closely with ADP on payroll re-runs and actioning the follow up work, i.e. accounting ajustments and HMRC refund claims.
  • Ensuring that all benefit changes are actioned on time and that the annual election process takes place smoothly, dealing with benefit queries from staff.
  • Processing HR related invoices and dealing with queries.
  • Pro-actively dealing with all taxation issues, liaising with HMRC and EY (requesting and chasing refunds, queries, etc.).
  • Working closely with payroll and taxation team in Singapore and with the finance department, exploring any discrepancies and finding solutions.
  • Play an active role in the HR team in London as well as the relevant teams in Singapore, creating strong and trusting relationships.
  • Key liaison with external payroll related third parties: developing strong relationships, as well as responding to queries in a timely manner - i.e. ADP, accountancy firms, HMRC, pension broker, etc.
  • Responsible for monthly, year-end and ad-hoc reporting and reconciliation processes.
  • Performing quarterly audits on the payrolls, processes and documentation.
  • Identify and implement improvements to end-to-end processes ensuring increased efficiency and continuous improvement (ideally, moving towards more automation).
  • Exploring and working on ADP system developments (we are currently working on an interface between Success Factors and ADP Freedom).
  • Assisting with the review of the payroll operational risk documents.
  • Primary contact and responsibility for the external and internal payroll audits.
  • Ensuring that all payroll files and records are up to date, stored in line with process/GDPR and retained in line with the records retention policy.
  • Cover other team members during absences or busy periods, which would include talent acquisition, HR administration, immigration, etc.



  • Strong payroll experience in a similar role.
  • Experience of benefits administration.
  • Experience of working on seconded staff payrolls.
  • Experience of working on payrolls outside of the UK (e.g. Lux).
  • Preferably accredited with a recognised payroll qualification (e.g. CIPP).
  • Strong excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and good analytical skills.
  • The ability to independently execute task and resolve issues and recommend solutions for processes and policies.
  • Ability to follow process, have a solution finding and improvement mind-set. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders and the HR team.
  • An inquisitive mind-set and self-driven/motivated.
  • Comfortable being an operational specialist working for a subsidiary office.
