External Managers Department (EMD)
The External Managers Department seeks to identify and develop relationships with the best breed of global investment managers to benefit GIC at large, and at the same time capturing investment opportunities to outperform our benchmarks.
We are looking for a suitable candidate to join our team as a Portfolio Manager. The candidate will be part of the investment team which invests in funds run by external managers. Portfolio manager responsibilities include conducting manager selection and strategy due diligence, as well as structuring and monitoring fund investments.
While the role will be focused on liquid macro, relative value strategies, fixed income and multi-strategies, the candidate will also get exposure to other strategies including equities, credit, and quant.
The role will be based in New York.
Responsibilities

Sourcing, hiring, evaluation and monitoring of external fund managers

Perform strategy level analysis, including periodic research, portfolio risk analysis, and surfacing macro thematic ideas for the team and GIC at large

As a member of the Global Markets team, the candidate will perform quantitative and qualitative analyses on portfolios and individual fund managers, as well as lead discussions on portfolio innovations including portfolio construction, trade structuring and risk management

Underwriting and portfolio management of hedge funds and other alternative asset managers
Requirements

About 4-7 years of fund allocator and/or capital markets experience

Experience with macro and multi-asset investing

Experience and familiarity with fixed income derivative trading and multi-asset trade structuring would be preferred

Strong financial modeling and programming skills with excellent analytical ability, strong writing and communication skills

Be highly motivated, intellectually curious and adept at multi-tasking

Independent thinker who is able articulate his/her views well, both in verbal and written form

Strong team player and comfortable in fostering new internal and external relationships

Total pay for this position comprises base pay and bonus. The anticipated base salary range for this role is between $135,000 and $180,000.
Bonuses, which may form a meaningful proportion of the total pay package, are determined based on company and individual performance.
