GIC Private Equity

Direct Investments Group (North America)
The Direct Investment Group makes large investments directly into leading companies across different sectors. The group focuses on sourcing and investing both independently and alongside other private equity sponsors. The Direct Investment Group typically invests in mid- to large-cap businesses with established market presence and cash flows, with opportunities to improve performance through a variety of operational and growth initiatives. Notable investments include Ancestry.com, Copeland, Medline, Refinitiv, PetSmart, Ultimate Kronos Group (UKG), and Veritext.
Our team consists of over 20 investment professionals and is based in New York and San Francisco.
What impact can you make in this role?
You will be part of a team that is one of the largest, and most established private equity investors in the world today.
What will you do as an AVP?
- Play a key role in growing GIC Direct Investment Group’s on-the-ground presence in North America and for further developing the pipeline of investments and portfolio of assets in the region.
- Take charge of the full deal lifecycle: originating and executing investment opportunities, managing deal teams, and managing liaison with partners and external advisors.
- Lead deal appraisal, negotiating transaction documentation, and presenting investment decisions to investment committee.
- Beyond investment approval, you will take an active role in monitoring portfolio companies, including attending board meetings and reporting on investment progress.
- The team operates in a flat and meritocratic culture - empowering junior staff and thriving on the hands-on involvement of the senior team members.
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier university; MBA helpful but not required.
- 4 to 7 years of total finance experience, including at least 2 years working for a private equity fund.
- Maturity, presence, strong organization and verbal communication skills are critical due to the exposure and close interaction with senior members of investment team and senior executives.
- A strong investment track record and experience with managing operational assets.
- Detail-oriented with a hands-on attitude to deal execution.
- Team player, self-starter, able to work independently and with little supervision.

Compensation
Our compensation philosophy reflects several principles. We strive to provide a competitive compensation package to attract and retain talent globally. We pay for performance, and reward sustainable results. Total pay for this position comprises base pay and bonus.
The anticipated base salary range for this role is between $175,000 and $235,000. Bonuses, which may form a meaningful proportion of the total pay package, are determined based on company and individual performance.
