The Economics & Investment Strategy Department (EIS) is responsible for economic research, as well as identifying new investment trends, opportunities, and capabilities that GIC needs to build to sustain and improve GIC’s investment performance.

 

Total Portfolio Alternative Strategy | Portfolio of Innovations and Extension (PIX)

 

PIX is our private market R&D unit that seeks new investment strategies and portfolio construction techniques that can deliver innovations with total portfolio level impact. We partner with best-in-class managers, develop strategic initiatives with industry players, or invest directly. We are seeking a Vice President to join our New York team. The candidate will be a key member of a small, agile team of a global, cross-asset alternatives investment platform within PIX. They will evaluate and invest in non-traditional strategies – including forestry, agriculture, carbon credit, insurance risk, and frontier markets – with the objective to enhance the GIC Total Portfolio.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Source, evaluate and monitor investment opportunities in direct investments and in funds

  • Manage closing process of investments, including structuring, legal due diligence, documentation, and negotiations

  • Support developments of new investment strategies, business operational process, and investment themes

  • Build up internal capabilities of a growing team

 

Requirements:

 

  • 8-10 years of relevant work experience at an investment bank or buy-side firm with hands-on transactional experience and operational exposure. Can lead end-to-end investment process

  • Self-motivated and comfortable to work in an unstructured, entrepreneurial environment to build up an investment portfolio and business processes

  • Resourceful and comfortable to foster new internal and external relationships

  • A team player with excellent communication skills and knowledge share to bring team members along the journey 

  • Intellectual curiosity and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent analytical capabilities and quantitative skillsets; proficiency in financial modelling and preferably programming languages - e.g., R, Python, etc.

Total pay for this position comprises base pay and bonus. The anticipated base salary range for this role is between $160,000 and $280,000.

 

Bonuses, which may form a meaningful proportion of the total pay package, are determined based on company and individual performance.
