Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Resilience (ICR)

GIC is seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader representing Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Resilience (ICR) for the Americas, responsible for overseeing all technology and Cyber functions across North and South America.

 

What impact can you make in this role? 

The VP, Network Operations Engineer is responsible for leading and maintaining operational excellence for our network infrastructure across the Americas region. Operating in a regulated financial environment, this role is responsible for ensuring service reliability, compliance, security, and operational discipline across all network services. The VP will function as the regional approving authority for network changes, the primary escalation point, and the bridge with our global L2 Network Operations team.

 

This individual must have strong hands-on expertise with Enterprise campus wired and wireless solutions, and security solutions, backed by deep experience in financial sector operational governance and controls. Additionally, we seek candidates with exposure to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and automation, preferably with a networking engineering background along with operations experience.

 

What will you do as a VP, Network Operations Engineer?

1. Regional Network Operations Leadership

  • Maintain best-in-class operational reliability for network services supporting trading, and corporate connectivity.
  • Act as the regional authority for network change approvals, ensuring adherence to financial-industry standards for stability, risk controls, and documentation quality.
  • Serve as the single point of contact (SPOC) for all network escalations in the region, coordinating across Technology, Cybersecurity, Risk, and global support teams.

 

2. Core Operational Responsibilities

Monitoring & Event Management

  • Oversee the monitoring of network and security infrastructure, including performance, bandwidth, latency, and security events.
  • Ensure alert thresholds, dashboards, and KPIs reflect regulatory and business expectations for availability and resilience.
  • Drive early detection, triage, escalation, and resolution of incidents impacting regional services.
  • Integrate Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to enhance monitoring and event management, focusing on automation and continuous improvement.
  • Implement automated monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues, reducing manual intervention and improving response times.

 

Inventory & Asset Management

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date inventory of all network devices, software versions, licenses, circuit details, and configurations.
  • Ensure inventory records meet internal audit standards and are reconciled regularly with CMDB and procurement systems.

 

Configuration Management

  • Own configuration governance for all regional network devices, ensuring compliance with security baselines, hardening standards, and approved templates.
  • Enforce version control, backup policies, and configuration drift detection.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Security Architecture teams to implement configuration updates in a controlled and automated manner.

 

Patch & Vulnerability Management

  • Maintain a structured patch management schedule for network devices in region, aligned with vulnerability severity, vendor advisories, and regulatory expectations.
  • Coordinate with Cybersecurity teams to remediate high-risk vulnerabilities, ensuring timely closure and complete audit trails.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and coordinate with Global Operations team for patching schedule and impact assessment.

 

Incident, Problem & Change Management

  • Lead major incident handling for network issues in the region, ensuring rapid coordination and minimal impact to business operations.
  • Produce high-quality root-cause analyses (RCAs) and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in Problem Investigation and develop solutions to address root cause.
  • Govern regional change management processes, ensuring proper planning, testing, documentation, rollback, and communication in line with financial-sector standards.

 

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure all network operations adhere to internal controls, security baselines, and regulatory frameworks (MAS-TRM, CSA CCoP and GDPR guidelines).
  • Support internal/external audits with evidence, documentation, and technical explanations related to network controls, configurations, and processes.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation to meet regulatory, operational, and audit expectations.

 

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 8–12 years of experience in Network Engineering and Operations, with at least 3–5 years in a senior or lead capacity in Operations —preferably in the financial industry or in global organizations.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Enterprise Campus Networks (routing, switching, wireless, SDWAN)
    • Firewalls and perimeter defense (Well-known brands)
    • Network security, Zoning, IDS/IPS, NAC, proxies, and SASE
    • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IPsec, DNS, DHCP, QoS).
    • Familiarity with monitoring, logging and tracing tools.
    • Demonstrated experience with configuration management, patch management, and CMDB/inventory processes.
    • Exposure to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and automation (Python, Ansible) and continuous integration and continuous deployment tools.
  • Certifications (preferred):
    • Professional certifications such as CCNP/CCIE, relevant security certifications
    • Familiarity with ITIL, NIST CSF, and financial-sector risk frameworks.
    • Experience with automation (Python, Ansible) to improve consistency and reduce operational risk.

 

Other preferred skillsets:

  • Strong technical leadership with a holistic understanding of network operations, security, resilience, and compliance interdependencies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for both technical and executive audiences.
  • Ability to balance security rigor with operational practicality.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence across architecture, operations, and compliance teams.

Compensation

Our compensation philosophy reflects several principles. We strive to provide a competitive compensation package to attract and retain talent globally. We pay for performance, and reward sustainable results.

 

Total pay for this position comprises base pay and bonus. The anticipated base salary range for this role is between $130,000 and $180,000.  Bonuses, which may form a meaningful proportion of the total pay package, are determined based on company and individual performance.
