Investment Controllership

You will be part of a team with wide roles and responsibilities, covering governance and operations over the investment life cycle of private market investments, including execution of select pre-deal and post-deal due diligence as well as accounting and reporting. You will work collaboratively with different parties to achieve the delivery of comprehensive investment services. This role will also provide you with opportunities to engage with various types of service providers that form the wider ecosystem of Investment Controllership.

What impact can you make in this role?

You will be part of Alternative Investment Operations (AIO) within Investment Controllers – an integrated investment services team that partners the business to support GIC’s private markets investments across funds, credits, direct investments and real estate.

We are seeking an Assistant Vice President to support investment operations. This role works closely with outsourced service providers, identifying service level issues, and ensuring the seamless integration of solutions into our investment operations, focusing on providing assurance over the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of Investment Book of Records (IBOR) reporting.

What will you do as an Assistant Vice President?

  • Support the deal life cycle from deal closing activities through an outsourced service provider.
  • Validate management fees, carried interest, fund expenses charged by external fund managers against limited partnership agreements, side letters and fee schedules with the support of an external service provider.
  • Monitor the performance of outsourced operations to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
  • Identify and resolve any operational issues or discrepancies in collaboration with service providers.
  • Coordinate periodic valuation updates delivered by fund administrators and the outsourced service provider, ensuring completeness, timeliness and accuracy and perform exception based assurance checks on deliverables.
  • Foster strong working relationships with external service providers and internal stakeholders, including transaction managers, deal teams, etc.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency, and support the team’s outsourcing and target operating model initiatives.

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

  • Bachelor in Accounting, Finance or relevant disciplines;
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in fund accounting, financial controllership, investment operations, or audit of asset managers, with exposure to private market investments;
  • Familiarity with private market fund structures and transaction processes;
  • Hands-on experience with data and automation tools (advanced Excel, Power BI, SQL or Python) and a strong interest in applying AI to operational review; prior involvement in automation or AI-enabled process delivery is highly desirable;
  • Experience working with outsourced service providers or fund administrators is highly desirable;
  • Exceptional analytical mindset with keen attention to detail, supported by strong problem-solving and data management skills;
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate resources, manage timelines and deliver quality across multiple stakeholders;
  • A strategic mindset – able to identify gaps in processes and implement enhancements, rather than only executing existing procedures;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders and external counterparties;
  • Committed and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
