What impact can you make in this role?
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated candidate, preferably with Artificial Intelligence working knowledge, to join our team and contribute to the development and management of GIC's enterprise Master Data Management (MDM) system. This system will serve as the "single source of truth" for all related data sets of entities and instruments, powering all enterprise data requirements with harmonized attributes. The MDM system will provide a complete view of exposures, enhance decision-making, and drive better insights across the organization.
You will play a key role in shaping and enhancing enterprise reference data capabilities that underpin the full investment data lifecycle across public and private markets — from deal onboarding and instrument set‑up, through lifecycle events and changes, to downstream reporting and analytics.
This role sits within Central Reference Data Management and focuses on managing, governing, and continuously improving GIC’s enterprise Master Data Management (MDM) capabilities. You will work closely with investment, risk, technology, and stakeholders in other enterprise functions to ensure reference data is accurate, timely, and fit for use across key investment processes, while contributing to the evolution of scalable, well‑governed data services.
What will you do as an AVP, Central Reference Data Management?
- Manage and support day‑to‑day reference data management across key lifecycle stages, including data onboarding, maintenance, lifecycle events, and exception handling
- Investigate and resolve data issues, quality breaks, and process gaps that impact downstream investment and reporting systems
- Serve as a data Subject Matter Expert, working with stakeholders to understand data requirements across the investment lifecycle and advising on appropriate data usage
- Perform data stewardship responsibilities, ensuring reference data aligns with enterprise definitions, standards, and control frameworks
- Partner with technology teams and managed service providers to operate and enhance MDM platforms and reference data processes
- Support assessments of data and operational readiness for new investment products, structures, markets, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and business validation for data changes and enhancements
- Identify and implement process improvements and change initiatives, including opportunities to reinvigorate reference data operations, strengthen controls, and improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of GIC’s data management capabilities by applying industry best practices and emerging tools, including automation or AI‑enabled capabilities where appropriate
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related discipline
- 4–8 years of relevant experience in investment operations, data operations, asset management, or financial services environments
- Experience working with reference data, master data, or investment data domains across multiple lifecycle stages
- Foundational understanding of financial instruments; exposure to derivatives, structured products, or private markets is a strong advantage
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with high attention to detail and data quality
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across business and technology teams
- Self‑starter with strong learning agility, comfortable operating in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment
- Experience or aptitude in operational improvement or change initiatives, including reinvigorating existing processes
- Forward‑looking mindset with sound understanding of data management principles, processes, and controls
- Working knowledge of Python, SQL, or AI‑enabled data tools is a plus
