About GIC
GIC is one of the world's largest sovereign wealth funds. With over 2,000 employees across 11 locations around the world, we invest in more than 40 countries globally across asset classes and businesses. Working at GIC gives you exposure to an extraordinary network of the world's industry leaders. As a leading global long-term investor, we work at the Point of Impact for Singapore's financial future, and the communities we invest in worldwide.
Technology Group
We experiment, design, and lead a 24×7 global business where we support core capabilities in asset management, trading, investment operations, and risk management. We deliver secure, reliable, and integrated solutions, and provide insights on new and emerging technologies.
Strategy, Architecture, and Transformation Group
The Strategy, Architecture & Transformation (SAT) group shapes and drives GIC’s technology strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities and enterprise goals. Bringing together expertise in strategy, architecture, engineering, and transformation, the team strengthens governance, promotes consistency, and accelerates delivery across the Technology Group. Through modern practices and close collaboration, SAT leads the development of an architectural strategy that reinforces oversight and accountability while enabling reliable, scalable solutions and informed decision making across the Technology Group and, more broadly, across GIC.
AI Engineering
The AI Engineering team within SAT is driving GIC's transformation from AI-enabled to AI-native. We build and operate the foundational AI platform — gateway, agent runtime, agentic IAM, memory, observability, and more — so that every team across GIC can develop and deploy AI agents that are secure, observable, and production-grade.
What impact can you make in this role?
As a Frontend Engineer, you will design and build the surfaces where humans and AI agents meet — conversational interfaces, agentic dashboards, real-time streaming UIs, and emerging interaction paradigms like AG-UI and MCP Apps — all connected to the agent runtime and orchestration layers behind them.
Think of it as shaping how every person at GIC experiences AI: if the agent can reason and act, your job is to make that reasoning visible, controllable, and trustworthy.
You are not building forms on top of REST APIs. You are building adaptive, event-driven interfaces that stream agent thought, surface tool calls in real time, and keep a human in the loop when it matters.
Your Impact:
- Own the human-AI interaction layer — design and ship modular, accessible React components that render agent reasoning, tool invocations, and multi-step workflows as they stream in
- Build agentic UIs — implement emerging interaction patterns (AG-UI protocol events, generative UI, MCP Apps) so agents can push rich, structured content — not just text — into the user’s workspace
- Integrate with the agent stack — connect frontend applications to LLM-based agents, RAG pipelines, and multi-agent orchestration frameworks via streaming APIs (SSE, WebSockets) and the AI SDK
- Make AI explainable — surface observability data — traces, confidence scores, source attribution, and cost — in UIs that build user trust and enable debugging without leaving the browser
- Close the feedback loop — build inline feedback, evaluation, and correction affordances that feed directly back into agent improvement pipelines
- Raise the bar — establish and document frontend standards for AI-native applications: component libraries, accessibility patterns, performance budgets, and automated testing strategies
What will you do as an AI Security Engineer?
You will design, build, and maintain the human-AI interaction layer for GIC’s AI platform. You will:
- Develop modular, accessible, and high-performance React components for agentic workflows
- Implement real-time streaming interfaces using SSE and WebSockets
- Integrate frontends with AI and LLM-powered backends through structured APIs and SDKs
- Build explainable and trustworthy UIs that visualise agent reasoning and decision-making
- Collaborate closely with AI engineers, designers, and product managers to define interaction patterns for emerging AI paradigms
- Establish frontend standards for accessibility, performance, and testing across AI-native applications
- Continuously improve feedback and evaluation mechanisms to enhance agent learning and user experience
What makes you a successful candidate?
- Must Have:
- 5+ years in frontend engineering, with production experience in TypeScript and React (hooks, concurrent features, server components)
- Deep understanding of component-driven architecture, state management (Zustand, Redux, or React Query), and design-system thinking
- Experience building real-time, streaming UIs — handling SSE / WebSocket connections, partial updates, and optimistic rendering
- Hands-on work integrating frontends with AI or LLM-powered backends — chat completions, tool-call rendering, structured output display
- Strong command of web accessibility (WCAG 2.x), responsive design, and performance optimisation (Core Web Vitals mindset)
- Comfort with automated testing at multiple levels — unit (Vitest / Jest), component (Testing Library), and E2E (Playwright / Cypress)
- Familiarity with Node.js and RESTful / GraphQL APIs — able to read and contribute to backend code when needed
- Nice to Have:
- Experience with agentic UI protocols and frameworks — AG-UI, CopilotKit, Vercel AI SDK, or similar streaming-agent-to-frontend toolkits
- Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol) and how MCP servers expose tools and resources to frontends
- Exposure to AI explainability and trustworthy-AI UX — provenance visualisation, confidence display, human-in-the-loop approval flows
- Working knowledge of generative UI — dynamically rendering UI components from agent output or structured schemas
- Experience with containers & CI/CD (Docker, Kubernetes / EKS, GitHub Actions) for frontend build and deployment pipelines
- Python literacy — enough to read agent code and collaborate fluidly with AI engineers
- Cloud platform experience (AWS preferred)
- Mindset & Working Style:
- User-obsessed — you start from the person using the interface and work backwards to the data
- Comfortable with ambiguity — you thrive when AI interaction patterns are still being invented
- Strong communicator — you translate design intent into technical trade-offs and explain rendering constraints clearly
- Autonomous yet collaborative — you drive frontend architecture decisions independently while pairing naturally with AI engineers, designers, and product managers
- Quality-minded — you treat accessibility, performance, and test coverage as first-class deliverables, not afterthoughts
