The team is responsible for business management functions for all public market investment strategy groups, as well as GIC’s global trade operations, custody control and asset servicing such as income entitlements, mergers and acquisitions and other corporate events of our underlying investments, futures and derivative operations, collateral management, pricing and rates, market data and rebalancing operations. The coverage extends across a spectrum of products such as equities, bonds, money market, foreign exchange, futures, collateralized securities and other derivatives.

We are looking for an Assistant Vice President to join our Strategy Services team in ISPM, where the role supports the Economics and Investment Strategy (EIS) department. The successful candidate will support the strategies managed by EIS on behalf of the Group Chief Investment Officer (GCIO), and will be required to interact with stakeholders at all levels across the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Provide business strategy execution support, which includes the setup of new and ongoing strategies and portfolios.
  • Provide order/trade management support for portfolio managers to ensure that they comply with various risk governance, market and regulatory requirements.
  • Project lead new/change initiatives from initiation to post-implementation, including the implementation of process improvements which may involve interfacing with other functions across GIC.
  • Resolve front office issues and potential hurdles arising from execution, operational risk, compliance and audit considerations.
  • Manage stakeholders across investment teams to deliver impactful initiatives and projects on a timely basis.
  • Manage and implement business infrastructure plans.
  • Work closely with Portfolio Managers to assess new product requirements, manage deal pipeline, execute transactions, and assist with business cases to achieve target value-add.
  • Monitor recurring activities to operational risk themes; ensuring strict governance to risk and compliance policies. This will include the periodic review of processes and refinement of their controls.
  • Produce meaningful reporting and analytics dashboards to track strategy performance and exposure, thereby facilitating portfolio management and the investment process.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Business or related fields with at least 6-8 years of relevant experience in the financial services or funds management industry.
  • Knowledge in cross asset products, spanning across fixed income, equities and commodities, and especially in index and options products.
  • Good appreciation on markets, portfolio controls and execution.
  • Ability to drive discussions (particularly around process and reporting improvements) and navigate issues efficiently to get them unstuck.
  • Ability to navigate data well; familiarity to SQL, Python and Tableau (or other data visualization tools) would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of portfolio construction and risk metrics will be favourably considered.
  • Ability to think and communicate strategically, yet operate at a tactical level.
  • Flexible and able to work autonomously, but also collaborate well across cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrate resilience and be able to manage competing deadlines and intense pressure.
  • Self-starter who is analytical, meticulous and well-organized.
  • Strong stakeholder management, particularly proactive in engaging and anticipating the business needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a shared willingness to support the team’s mandate.
