Corporate Infrastructure Services Department
The Corporate Infrastructure Services Department (CISD) at GIC focuses on maintaining a best-in-class workplace environment that enables employees to perform at their highest potential. Within CISD, the Enterprise Sourcing & Procurement (ESP) team provides strategic procurement and sourcing support, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements, value optimization, and quality assurance across all organizational activities.
The Market Data Category Management and Centre of Excellence sits within ESP with a focus on sourcing and assessing market data services, the full lifecycle support from procuring to ongoing management of the service as well as identifying optimization opportunities.
What impact can you make in this role?
The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Market Data Category Manager, will be responsible for the research and assessment of market data sources/vendors to meet business demand. In addition, the role will drive the sourcing and procurement process to negotiate and contract for the identified market data service most suited to meet business requirements. As a central function, the role will be responsible to manage strategic vendor relationships and identify optimization opportunities for cost savings.
What will you do as a Market Data Category Manager?
Stakeholder Partnership
- Partner with internal stakeholders - including Business COOs and Business Managers, Investment Professionals, Quantitative Analysts and Risk Analysts - to understand business requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose market data solutions.
Procurement and Contracting
- Lead the end-to-end procurement process, from sourcing and evaluating market data solutions for suitability and cost-effectiveness to negotiating commercial terms and finalizing contracts.
Strategic Vendor Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic market data vendors to identify areas of collaboration and optimization.
Strategic Sourcing and Planning
- Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans with stakeholders across key sub-categories within market data.
Market Research and Innovation
- Proactively research and assess emerging trends in market data – particularly in alternative data – to inform sourcing strategies and innovation opportunities.
What qualifications and skills should you possess?
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized tertiary institution, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in procurement, finance, or asset management, including at least 3 years of direct, hands-on experience in market data sourcing or management.
- Deep expertise in knowledge of major market data providers, market data products and services (Bloomberg, LSEG/Refintiv, Markit) is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial instruments and markets.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse stakeholder groups and influence outcomes
- Proven experience in category management, procurement and sourcing, contract and commercial negotiation, as well as financial and contract management.
