What will you do as a Platform Engineer (Enterprise Service Management)?

You will be a hands-on engineer on our ServiceNow-based Enterprise Service Management (ESM) platform, with depth across three areas: ServiceNow development, enterprise integrations, and the infrastructure that keeps the platform running.

  • ServiceNow platform development
    • Design, configure, customize and support ServiceNow modules across ITSM, HR Service Delivery, Workplace Management, Risk Management and IT Security Operations, in line with security and coding best practices.
    • Build custom scripts, scoped applications and platform extensions, applying sound judgement on configuration versus customization.
    • Own the platform data model — CMDB and CSDM alignment, Discovery and Service Mapping, data quality and reconciliation against authoritative sources.
    • Plan and manage technical tasks and schedules to ensure high quality and timely delivery throughout the implementation lifecycle.
    • Maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures for the platform.

  • Integration engineering
    • Design, build and operate integrations using REST, SOAP and JSON APIs, IntegrationHub spokes, and event or message-driven patterns.
    • Connect ServiceNow to the enterprise ecosystem — HRIS, IAM and directory services, ITAM/SAM, monitoring and observability tooling, SIEM, ERP/Finance and collaboration platforms.
    • Implement secure authentication and credential handling: OAuth 2.0, mutual TLS, SAML/OIDC, certificate and secrets management.
    • Engineer for resilience — error handling, retry and idempotency, replay and reconciliation, logging and alerting, with runbooks for failure scenarios.
    • Lead integration troubleshooting across system boundaries with counterpart platform owners, infrastructure teams and external partners.

  • Infrastructure and platform operations
    • Support the infrastructure underpinning the platform: MID Server design and administration, network connectivity and firewall paths, certificates, SSO and identity integration.
    • Manage instance and environment topology across development, test and production, including cloning, data masking and release promotion.
    • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Git-based source control practices, automated testing (ATF) and deployment automation.
    • Drive performance, scalability and availability — query and table tuning, capacity monitoring, upgrade and patch cycles, and change and release governance.
    • Establish monitoring and alerting for platform health and integration flows; support incident response, root cause analysis and remediation.

  • Stakeholder management
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including program and project managers, business users, technical teams, infrastructure and security functions, and external partners.
    • Communicate complex technical concepts across technical and non-technical audiences, translating them into business terms.
    • Work closely with Delivery and Product Managers to implement product features aligned with business requirements.
  • Project management
    • Provide daily project status updates on work assigned, with reference to JIRA epics, stories and backlogs. Proactive backlog status updates during daily stand-ups and sprint reviews. Provide technical details and status updates on backlogs.

What makes you a successful candidate?

  • Foundational
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Minimum 5 to 8 years in software development, system or platform engineering, with a strong background in coding, integration and technical architecture.

  • ServiceNow
    • Substantial hands-on ServiceNow development and administration experience, delivering across multiple modules at enterprise scale.
    • Proficiency with Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, UI Scripts, ACLs, Service Portal, Service Catalog, Flow Designer, scoped applications and Forms — using JavaScript, Glide, Angular, HTML, PowerShell and Jelly scripting.
    • Working knowledge of CMDB and CSDM, Discovery, Service Mapping and Event Management.

  • Integrations
    • Demonstrated depth in integration engineering: API design and lifecycle management, REST/SOAP/JSON, IntegrationHub, and event or message-driven architectures.
    • Practical command of authentication and authorization patterns, and a track record diagnosing and resolving integration failures in production.
    • Experience integrating with HRIS, IAM, ITAM, monitoring, SIEM and ERP/Finance systems.

  • Infrastructure
    • Solid infrastructure fundamentals: networking and connectivity troubleshooting, Linux/Windows administration, certificate and secrets management, and identity and access management.
    • Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP).
    • Hands-on experience with DevOps tooling and automation — CI/CD pipelines, source control, automated testing and observability or monitoring stacks.
