We manage the Total Portfolio to earn sustainable returns over the long-term, and enable the flexibility to navigate the path over the shorter term.
Total Portfolio Strategy Management
You will help to manage top of the house investment strategies for the total GIC portfolio which are designed to improve the overall risk-adjusted returns of the portfolio by opportunistically taking advantage of market dislocations and mitigating drawdown risk.
What impact can you make in this role?
You will articulate GIC’s strategic outlook, determine asset exposures and benchmarks, implement new return streams and investment models, and optimise the risk-reward of the GIC Portfolio.
What will you do as a Portfolio Manager with this team?
This is an opportunity to join an experienced macro, investment strategy, and asset allocation team that works closely with Senior Management of GIC as well as the firm’s Executive and Investment Committees, and plays a critical role in managing the total portfolio. You will analyze and communicate key investment topics to senior management and portfolio managers.
- Contribute directly to the team’s management of the total portfolio strategies
- Support the asset allocation and investment mandate by conducting macro-oriented market research, building and maintaining risk and return models, and monitoring markets and macro themes
- Contribute to global equity coverage and other asset classes as needed
- Help to manage and refine team’s overall investment framework and processes
- Develop actionable investment recommendations
- Work with team members to conduct scenario analysis and advise on optimal asset allocation
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
You are required to have experience working on portfolio mandates, conducting market research, monitoring markets and investment themes, as well as generating investment ideas across asset classes.
- 2-5 years' investment experience analysing equity markets, preferably in a cross-asset role.
- Direct experience in testing market and economic variables, and building top-down market models.
- Strong analytical abilities, proficient with MS office products, market data services (e.g. Bloomberg, Datastream, etc.). R/python experience a plus.
- A solid understanding of fundamental investment concepts and return drivers, sound economic and market judgment, and an ability to anticipate key issues that will impact the portfolio.
- Able to formulate independent views and investment recommendations.
- A good Degree in Economics/Finance/Mathematics etc, with a keen interest in economics and financial markets research.
- Able to link the dots, with strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills. Able to work collaboratively and foster internal debate.
