Portfolio Execution Group
The Portfolio Execution Group (PEG) comprises teams involved in a broad range of functional roles, including trading, treasury, securities financing, counterparty relationship management and applied quantitative research.
The Business Strategy & Management (BSM) function works closely with the departments leadership team to drive PEG’s strategic agenda, facilitate the development of new capabilities and products, oversees the departments governance and controls, drives technology rollouts, and looks after the general business management such as resource and budget planning.
What impact can you make in this role?
As we continuously refine and evolve the function to deliver value to GIC, we are looking for one more colleague to join the BSM team as a Business Manager in Singapore.
What will you do as an AVP/VP, Business Manager?
- Strategy and Analytics
- Develop and implement strategic plans to grow PEGs value-add to GIC
- Project manage change initiatives from initiation to post-implementation, including interfacing with other functions across GIC
- Produce meaningful analytics to report strategy performance, financials, review pipelines, resources and budgets
- Drive independent workstreams in the context of broader team projects (as part of PEG’s and GIC’s strategic initiatives)
- Synthesize clear takeaways from complex information into clear insights and recommendations using both qualitative and quantitative methods
- Business Product Management
- (Jointly with the business heads) define product vision(s) and strategies that are aligned with GIC’s and PEG’s business goals
- Gather and prioritize requirements from key stakeholders
- Translate business needs into technical solutions that help advance the function
- Manage the product roadmap and ensure timely delivery of new features
- Define objective key results and monitor / track the product performance
- Business Management
- Proactively identify and implement process improvements, achieving sufficient gains in efficiencies and cost reductions
- Act as the central point of contact for operational issues within PEG
- Resolve front office issues and potential roadblocks arising from execution, operational, risk and compliance considerations
- Ensure policies and controls are followed within PEG; work closely with risk and compliance teams to address issues and/or audits
- Stay updated on GICs activities as well as market / regulatory developments (affecting GIC)
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
The ideal candidate possesses a blend of technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills that enable her / him to effectively perform the role of a business manager in PEG, drive the development of the function and navigate the complexity of the organization. Continuous learning and adaptability are also crucial to stay ahead in this dynamic and competitive field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field (MBA or CFA designation is preferred)
- At least 4-6 years of experience in either business management within the financial institutions sector and / or corporate strategy / top tier strategy consulting
- Good understanding of financial products, markets, and instruments. Global perspective and understanding of global economic trends
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data
- Strong data capabilities (ideally with some coding experience; at a minimum Tableau / Excel)
- Cultural sensitivity and the ability to manage international client relationships
- Adaptability and resilience to handle high-pressure situations and recover from setbacks
