Investment Services Public Markets, or ISPM, is an integrated investment service team that uses data and emerging technologies to provide services for public market investment activities strategically and tactically. The team is responsible for business strategy and management functions for all public market investment groups, as well as GIC’s global trade execution management, custody control and asset servicing, investment monitoring, regulatory compliance, futures and derivative clearing operations, collateral management, pricing and valuations, data solutions and services and asset rebalancing. The coverage extends across a spectrum of products such as equities, bonds, money market, foreign exchange, futures, collateralized securities and other derivatives.

 

We are seeking to create a new function that focus on closing of externally managed fund and segregated account investments. This new position is driven by ISPM’s objective is to advance our core services, building up capability of providing specialised and dedicated service for sharp execution of external funds investment.

 

We are looking a self-starter that can independently manage the investment pipeline, oversee the deals and act as a point person with external counterpart; this person will have the opportunities to work with a wide range of fund strategies managed by our external managers business.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Functional Expertise
    • Partner with investment professionals across Singapore and New York in the investment approval and execution process. Ensure on-going communication in working closely with the internal deal team (legal, tax, operations, compliance) and external parties globally (fund managers, administrator) to achieve a concerted and timely closing.
    • Strong alignment to business in execution of investment; while working with business office to maintain risk management, compliance with internal and external policies and adhering to internal approval framework and process.
    • Responsible for managing deal pipe, including the implementation of a new approval workflow system. Initiate and form internal deal team, originate required due diligence documentation and establish contact with external counterparts.
    • Monitor various approval and docs submission deadline, clear communication and timely escalation of problems that might impact the investment timeline, round up relevant parties to offer and drive resolution
    • Accountable for the post-investment approval process, including capturing of fund terms, execution of fund documentation, initiation of funding requirements and deal closing binder
    • Identify systematic issues and area of improvements that can sharpen the closing process, work closely with business office to improve the process and framework
    • Proactively manage expectations of all stakeholders and resolve issues in a professional and tactful manner.
    • Establish strong business network within the organization.
  • Innovation
    • Initiate and manage adhoc projects (e.g., technology adoption).
    • Assist in developing business plans, policies and procedures related to the assigned projects.
    • Lead the review, adaptation or improvement of processes and workflows across the team, including identifying possible new business requirements and capabilities.

 

    Requirements

 

  • Functional Expertise
    • Possess fund market related knowledge and experience necessary to efficiently handle and manage issues which may arise during the closing process
    • General acumen of compliance rules and regulations, as well as risk, structures, operational controls and best practices in the fund industry.
    • Advantageous to possess experience or exposure in fund commercials negotiation.
