Investment Services Private Markets
The Investment Services Private Markets (ISPVM) Department provides strategic investment services and financial management for the Private Markets within the GIC group. Leveraging data and emerging technologies, the department oversees the development and implementation of business infrastructural plans and operating models to scale GIC’s alternative asset investments globally. This covers deal structuring, due diligence and closing, financial operations across GIC’s assets, as well as tax structuring, corporate holding structures, valuations, and financial reporting.

 

Group Controllership

You will be part of a broader Group Controllers team that provide accounting and financial reporting, portfolio valuation and corporate secretariat management for private markets.

We are looking for a suitable candidate to join our Group Controllership team as an Assistant Vice President / Vice President.

 

What will you do in Group Controllership?

  • Financial control and governance of legal group structures of private markets.
  • Develop financial policies and frameworks and serve as technical expert for the function.
  • Drive the management of investment holding companies and the preparation of financial statements for investment companies based in Singapore and offshore.
  • Drive the annual audit of private markets and redesign audit process to increase the efficiency of financial reporting.
  • Foster a culture of operational excellence by improving efficiency and effectiveness across the Group Controllers function, including managing both in-house and external providers for financial reporting.
  • Develop analytics framework to examine financial data to understand business performance and provide financial insights to support decision-making to stakeholders, senior management and Audit Committee.
  • Enhance analytics capabilities within the Group Controllers team.
  • Work with Valuation Team to perform valuation analytics.
  • Explore efficiency initiatives through automation.
  • Uplift capabilities and grow partnerships with strategic outsource partners.

 

 

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

 

The successful candidate should ideally bring the following competencies and experiences:

  • 6 years (AVP) and10 years or more (VP) of relevant work experience, preferably in Audit with a public accounting firm with clients in the financial services sector. Experience in a financial reporting role in an asset management firm would be preferred.
  • Managerial experience.
  • Degree in Accountancy or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualifications required.
  • Technical knowledge of valuations of private market assets would be preferred.
  • Experience in driving innovation initiatives.
  • Strategic planning and commercial mindset – identify and capitalize on opportunities to use financial management to drive performance, streamline operations and processes.
  • Detail oriented, high accuracy with a good analytical mind.
  • Strong technical and project management skills.
  • Self-starter, proactive and dynamic with good interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with local laws and regulations preferably in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong communication skills and experience in facing off senior stakeholders.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with peers and direct reports; and engage senior management
