What will you do as an AVP/VP, Incident and Business Continuity Management?

We are seeking an experienced IT Service Management (ITSM/ITSO) Manager who combines deep expertise in Major Incident Management, aligned with ITIL 4 standards, with hands-on ownership of Technology Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR). You will be responsible for managing the full major incident lifecycle — from detection and coordination through to service recovery, post-incident review, and closure — and for planning, coordinating, and executing the annual Disaster Recovery exercise for Technology Operations, covering both applications and infrastructure / data centre services.

The ideal candidate will have 6-10 years of experience in Incident Management and/or Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, preferably within the Financial Services Industry (FSI), and will bring a strong track record of driving service reliability, operational resilience, and continuous improvement.

Major Incident Management

  • Manage the Incident Management (IM) space, ensuring timely communication and coordination, including coverage outside regular hours when required, as well as weekend rotational on-call duty.
  • Oversee and continuously improve the Incident Management process, ensuring it is well-documented, understood, and consistently followed.
  • Monitor performance metrics and dashboards to identify and drive process improvements.
  • Serve as the escalation point for high-impact incidents and lead Major Incident Management, including formal declaration and activation of the Major Incident Team (War Room / Virtual Command Centre).
  • Coordinate resolution and recovery efforts, ensuring efficient resource use and clear stakeholder communication across technology, business, and senior management audiences.
  • Update and maintain accurate and detailed incident records in the ITSM tool, capturing key events, decisions, and actions.
  • Determine when a major incident warrants escalation into a business continuity or disaster recovery invocation, and initiate the corresponding response and notification protocols.
  • Produce major incident reports and executive summaries, and track remediation actions through to closure with accountable owners

Business Continuity Management

  • Manage the Technology Business Continuity Management (BCM) function to strengthen ITSM/ITSO practices and overall operational resilience.
  • Maintain and refresh Business Impact Analyses (BIA) for technology services, confirming criticality tiering, Recovery Time Objectives (RTO), and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) with application and infrastructure owners.
  • Develop, maintain, and version-control Business Continuity Plans, IT Service Continuity Plans, and DR runbooks for applications, infrastructure, and data centre services.
  • Present continuity and recovery readiness findings in the relevant governance forums, secure permanent remediation of identified gaps, and drive continuous improvement of technology service operations.
  • Train and support team members on business continuity and disaster recovery processes, emphasising invocation criteria, roles, escalation paths, and recovery protocols.
  • Work with the ServiceNow team to enhance the ITSM platform in support of continuity and recovery use cases — including Configuration Management Database (CMDB) service mapping, dependency views, criticality attributes, and DR exercise tracking — in line with ITIL 4 standards.
  • Conduct lessons-learned and post-exercise reviews to strengthen prevention, response, and recovery strategies.
  • Support internal audit, external audit, and regulatory reviews of technology resilience, and align practices with recognised standards and regulatory expectations (e.g. ISO 22301, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) Technology Risk Management and Business Continuity Management guidelines).
  • Partner with Enterprise Risk, Corporate BCM, and regional office stakeholders to ensure technology recovery plans remain aligned to enterprise-wide continuity requirements.

Annual Disaster Recovery Planning and Coordination

  • Own the end-to-end planning and coordination of the annual Disaster Recovery exercise for Technology Operations, covering in-scope applications and infrastructure / data centre services.
  • Define the DR exercise strategy, scope, objectives, and success criteria; build the master test plan, schedule, and communication plan; and secure sign-off from Technology and business stakeholders.
  • Coordinate across application, infrastructure, network, database, cloud, and cybersecurity teams to sequence recovery activities, resolve dependencies, and confirm readiness ahead of execution.
  • Act as exercise coordinator on the day of the DR exercise — running the command centre, tracking recovery milestones against RTO/RPO, logging issues, and managing decision points and escalations.
  • Validate recovery results with application and business owners, including data integrity, interface and batch validation, and user acceptance confirmation.
  • Document exercise outcomes in a formal DR test report, capturing observations, gaps, and deviations; raise remediation items and track them to closure before the next test cycle.
  • Maintain the DR calendar and complementary testing programme across the year, including component-level failover tests, backup and restore verification, tabletop and scenario walkthroughs, and unplanned or surprise tests where appropriate.
  • Keep DR documentation, contact trees, and recovery runbooks current, factoring in infrastructure refreshes, cloud migrations, data centre changes, and new application onboarding.

What makes you a successful candidate?

  • 6-10 years of experience in the IT Service Management space, operating as an Incident Manager, Major Incident Manager, or Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery Manager.
  • Proven ability to manage a Business Continuity Management function, strengthening ITSM/ITSO practices and service resilience.
  • Experience planning and coordinating enterprise-scale Disaster Recovery exercises spanning applications and infrastructure / data centre environments, with clear evidence of RTO/RPO validation.
  • Strong command of business continuity fundamentals — Business Impact Analysis, criticality tiering, recovery strategy design, dependency mapping, and continuity plan governance.
  • Ability to present recovery readiness findings, exercise outcomes, and corrective actions to senior governance forums.
  • Strong stakeholder management and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to stay composed and lead effectively under pressure during crisis situations.
  • Available to support 24×7 operations, including weekend rotational on-call duty and out-of-hours DR exercise windows.

Preferred qualifications and certifications

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • ITIL 4 certification (Foundation or higher); Business Continuity certification such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Member of the Business Continuity Institute (MBCI), or ISO 22301 Lead Implementer / Auditor is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow ITSM, monitoring and observability tooling, and hybrid on-premises plus cloud (Azure / AWS) recovery patterns.
  • Prior experience in the Financial Services Industry or another regulated environment, with exposure to regulatory resilience expectations.
