Developer Experience — PMO & Finance Technology Partner
The Developer Experience team serves as the technology business partner to the Project Management Office (PMO) and Finance divisions. The PMO is a standalone division responsible for the end-to-end project management lifecycle — from project initiation, approval, and funding through to tracking, reporting, and closure. Our role is to understand their business needs and deliver the technology solutions, tooling, and integrations that support their processes.

What impact can you make in this role?
As a Project Manager, you will be the key link between the Developer Experience team and the PMO and Finance divisions. You will deeply understand their business processes — how projects are initiated, approved, funded, tracked, reported, and closed — and translate those needs into technology requirements and solutions.
This role requires someone with a strong understanding of both project management, business analysis, and finance, who is organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across engineering teams, PMO stakeholders, and finance partners.

What will you do as a Project Manager?

Project Management Lifecycle

  • Understand and analyse the PMO's end-to-end project management lifecycle: initiation, approval, funding, execution, tracking, reporting, and closure.
  • Gather and translate PMO business requirements into technology solutions, tooling configurations, and process improvements.
  • Work with the PMO to define and maintain Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) codes to ensure consistent project categorisation and financial tracking.
  • Support the delivery of dashboards, reports, and workflows that give the PMO visibility into project progress and risks.
  • Facilitate discussions between the PMO, Finance, and engineering teams to align on requirements, priorities, and trade-offs.

Financial Analysis & Budget Management

  • Support the financial planning and tracking of technology project budgets, including forecasting, actuals tracking, and variance analysis.
  • Work with WBS codes and financial structures to ensure project costs are accurately categorised and reported.
  • Work with finance and procurement teams to manage vendor costs, contract renewals, and licensing spend related to technology platforms.
  • Interface with finance systems (e.g. SAP) to reconcile project budgets, track expenditure, and support financial reporting cycles.
  • Prepare financial reports and summaries for senior leadership, translating project financials into clear and actionable insights.
  • Identify cost optimisation opportunities across technology projects and platform operations.

Requirements Analysis & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the primary bridge between the PMO/Finance divisions and the Developer Experience engineering team.
  • Gather, document, and analyse business requirements from PMO and Finance stakeholders.
  • Translate business needs into clear specifications, user stories, or process flows that engineering teams can act on.
  • Facilitate workshops and discussions to align PMO, Finance, and engineering teams on requirements, priorities, and trade-offs.

Process Improvement & Tooling

  • Identify opportunities to improve PMO processes, templates, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Support the configuration and administration of project management and portfolio tools (e.g. Jira, Jira Strategy Collection, Planview, ServiceNow, Confluence).
  • Contribute to the development of standardised frameworks for project intake, approval, funding, prioritisation, and delivery tracking.
  • Drive improvements in how project and financial data flows between PMO tools and finance systems.

What makes you a successful candidate?

Experience & Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in business analysis, project management support, or technology finance roles.
  • Experience working in technology organisations or supporting technology project delivery is advantageous.

Analytical & Financial Skills

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with project financials, budgets, forecasts, and WBS structures.
  • Experience working with finance systems (e.g. SAP) for budget tracking, cost reporting, or financial reconciliation.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g. Excel, Python, or similar).
  • Ability to synthesise information from multiple sources and present clear, concise summaries to senior stakeholders

Project Management & Governance

  • Understanding of the full project management lifecycle — initiation, approval, funding, execution, tracking, reporting, and closure.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches).
  • Experience with project management and portfolio tools (e.g. Jira, Jira Strategy Collection, Planview, ServiceNow, Confluence, MS Project).
  • Understanding of project governance frameworks, change management, and risk tracking.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable facilitating meetings, workshops, and discussions with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

Personal Attributes

  • Organised, detail-oriented, and proactive.
  • Pragmatic, structured, and outcome-focused.
  • Consistently demonstrates GIC's PRIME values: Prudence, Respect, Integrity, Merit, and Excellence.
