In Risk & Performance Management Department (RPMD), we work collaboratively across teams to identify and address potential blind spots, ensuring that all relevant risks are considered and duly addressed.

 

Operational Risk Management

The Operational Risk Management (ORM) team is responsible for driving and managing the corporate operational risk management programme within GIC. Operational risk tools and analytics are developed to better inform management about the operational risk landscape. We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated individual to join the team as an Assistant Vice President/ Vice President, focusing on data analytics to strengthen risk and control oversight.

 

What impact can you make in this role?

ORM is the designated Risk Subject Matter Expert (Risk SME) in the 2 LOD for a defined set of risk types within the framework. You will be part of the ORM team, responsible for the independent assessment, measurement, monitoring and reporting of GIC's operational risk profile, with a particular focus on third-party and outsourcing risk. Your core focus will be to review and challenge business units service delivery and fraud risk assessments of GIC's vendors across the third-party lifecycle, driving deep, evidence-based evaluations of critical relationships and advising stakeholders on the risks they present.

 

What will you do as an AVP/VP in ORM?

  • Represent the ORM function as a value partner in 2nd LOD to the Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) team in Line 1.
  • Provide independent second line input into and challenge of the TPRM policy, methodology and governance arrangements; represent ORM at the TPRM Workgroup and support the Head of ORM at the Escalation Group.
  • Review and challenge business unit due diligence and risk assessments of GIC's third parties across the vendor lifecycle with a focus on service delivery and fraud risk, forming clear, evidence-based risk conclusions
  • Monitor and report on the third-party service delivery and fraud risk profile, including tracking and collating relevant key risk indicators (KRIs) and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Ensure third-party related operational risk events, incidents and issues are captured, investigated and reported through ORM's processes, and track remediation to closure
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business and control stakeholders on third-party risk matters, including during vendor selection, contract negotiation (service levels, monitoring obligations and exit provisions) and issue escalation
  • Work closely with the TPRM framework owners and other risk domain teams to ensure assessments are aligned to firm-wide standards and that risks are escalated and addressed consistently
  • Deliver ORM's commitments under the phased TPRM implementation roadmap, and integrate third-party risk with the ORM framework and taxonomy, risk and control self-assessments, and GIC's Operational Resilience programme
  • Drive the adoption of data analytics and AI/LLM tools to make due diligence and monitoring more efficient and insightful (e.g. reviewing contracts and vendor documentation, extracting and summarising key information, and flagging gaps against requirements)
  • Lead thematic reviews and strategic organisation projects, and contribute to building the team's assessment capability

 

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

 

Must-haves:

  • 5 - 7 years’ experience in third-party risk management, vendor due diligence, outsourcing risk or a closely related discipline, ideally within financial services or a regulated environment
  • Strong command of due diligence methodologies and risk assessment practices across the vendor lifecycle
  • Sound understanding of service delivery risk and fraud risk as they relate to third-party arrangements
  • Strong analytical judgement, with the ability to synthesise diverse information into clear risk conclusions and communicate them to senior stakeholder

 

Good to have:

  • Practical experience applying AI/LLM tools to due diligence, assessment or analytics work
  • Broader domain knowledge in operational risk, fraud, audit or a related risk and controls field
  • Working knowledge of Operational Resilience concepts, including critical business service identification and impact tolerance
