Global Investment Services
GIS provides strategic investment services and financial management across GIC’s public and private market asset classes. Leveraging data and emerging technologies, the department drives the development and execution of business infrastructure plans while shaping scalable, agile, and resilient operating models that enable growth and deliver operational excellence.
What impact can you make in this role?
You will be part of an integrated team that provides investment services across all public and private markets asset classes for GIC.
In this role, you will own and strengthen end‑to‑end Total Portfolio data operations, improving data quality, consistency, and usability while enabling operational excellence through strong collaboration across business and technology teams. You will contribute to enterprise data initiatives that enhance data resilience, governance, and scalability.
What will you do as an AVP/VP, Total Portfolio Data Business Analyst?
Data Operations & Quality
- Own end‑to‑end data management operations within the Total Portfolio domain, including monitoring, analysis, investigation, and resolution of day‑to‑day operational issues, and providing advisory support to stakeholders.
- Design, implement, and oversee data quality management frameworks, including quality metrics and ongoing monitoring.
- Continuously improve data operations through the use of operational metrics such as SLAs, delivery quality, customer satisfaction, and efficiency indicators.
- Incorporate data management best practices into operational workflows.
- Identify and recommend operating model and process enhancements to reduce operational risk and strengthen governance and controls.
- Manage and maintain strong relationships with internal and external data providers and vendors.
Business Partnership & Delivery
- Partner closely with business users (Risk Analysts, Front Office, Quantitative Strategists, and other stakeholders) to understand investment use cases and translate business requirements into effective data solutions.
- Evaluate business requests for new data and collaborate with Data Engineers and Technology teams to implement and support solutions using best‑of‑breed tools and methodologies.
- Review and influence data and platform solution designs to ensure alignment with business needs, operational sustainability, and enterprise governance.
- Actively participate in enterprise data initiatives and projects, including product management of platforms supporting Total Portfolio data delivery (e.g. IBOR, exposures, analytics).
Change, Governance & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate across investment and corporate services teams to manage inter‑dependencies and deliver operational excellence at enterprise scale.
- Plan, develop, and execute end‑to‑end user acceptance testing (UAT) for system and data changes.
- Support documentation of functional requirements and specifications.
- Provide coaching and guidance to junior team members.
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
Experience & Domain Knowledge
- Degree holder with at least 5-8 years of working experience, including a minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience in total portfolio, data management, data analysis, analytics, or visualisation within the investment or banking industry.
- Strong understanding of data management principles, controls, data modelling, and data integration.
- Experience working across the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and/or agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Good working experience on Artificial Intelligence is preferred.
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Familiarity with data warehouses, data models, and data management tools.
- Experience with Excel formulas and macro, data extraction and visualisation tools such as SQL and Tableau and enterprise databases (e.g. MS SQL, Snowflake, PostgreSQL) and data integration tools (e.g. Informatica) is preferred.
- Experience applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) or advanced analytics to enhance data quality, analytics, or operational efficiency is preferred.
