Legal and Compliance Department
We govern, structure, negotiate and execute the largest and most complex deals globally, across all asset classes.
Compliance
You will gate-keep and escalate material regulatory, compliance, reputational risks and incidents to the GIC Board and senior management. You will help to monitor the constantly evolving regulatory landscape to advise our stakeholders of the potential implications and to implement the requisite controls. You will also promote and reinforce staff awareness of the applicable regulatory and compliance policies and procedures.

You will be part of a team that manages the legal, regulatory, compliance, and reputational risks of GIC.
We are looking for a highly motivated, high calibre candidate to join our Compliance Controls team as an Associate.
What will you do as an Associate, Compliance Operations?
- Review and investigate electronic communications alerts from emails, internal and external communications platforms on various regulatory and compliance risk scenarios.
- Perform Financial Crimes Compliance monitoring, and review alerts generated from the Dow Jones system.
- Implement control processes and monitoring to ensure compliance with GIC’s Gifts & Entertainment Policy.
- Advise on GIC’s Personal Investments Policy, and respond to system related queries to support the personal investment requests of GIC staff.
- Support the ex-ante approval and ex-post periodic review of the personal investments of GIC staff.
- Update the Chinese Wall status of GIC staff and manage our Compliance checklists whenever there are staff movements across GIC.
- Maintain Compliance dashboards, and support system enhancements for the implementation of robust and effective controls.
- Support the Compliance Controls teams in process improvement initiatives.
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- Degree holder, preferably in Accounting, Business, Finance or a related discipline.
- 2 to 3 years’ Compliance experience in banks/financial institutions. Experience in using and/or implementing Compliance monitoring platforms (either in-house or third-party vendor) will be preferred.
- Working knowledge of financial products, securities trading in public markets and/or investments in private markets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and clear thought process abilities. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to identify key compliance risk issues and obtain additional relevant information for further analysis.
- Effective and clear verbal and written communication skills, including communicating effectively with stakeholders of varying levels of seniority.
- Confident, driven, proactive, able to work independently and being a strong team player at the same time.
- Keen interest in managing system implementation and enhancements projects with a passion to identify areas of automation and process improvements.
