Economics & Investment Strategy Department

 

GIC’s Economics & Investment Strategy department (EIS) is a team of professionals who work closely with Investment Committees to set the Total Portfolio’s strategic outlook and asset allocation over long- and medium- term horizons; and to identify, research, recommend and initiate appropriate responses on major structural trends that could significantly affect the risk-return profile of the Total Portfolio.

 

The Total Portfolio Management (TPM) division within EIS is looking for a suitable candidate to join the team in a research analytics role.  This person will join a research and strategy team responsible for developing the medium-term asset allocation strategy for the total GIC portfolio. The candidate will work closely together with a team of experienced macro strategists and provide support in analyzing key investment and economic trends.

 

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain macro-economic and market databases, models and chart decks
  • Help to automate and improve visualization for the team’s various models and tools
  • Help to manage and refine team’s overall investment framework and processes
  • Monitor markets and macro issues
  • Work with team members to conduct scenario analysis that feeds into optimal asset allocation decisions

 

Requirements 

  • 1 to 3 years data analytics and/or investment analysis background.
  • Strong analytical ability, including ability to conduct statistical and regression analysis with large datasets.
  • Proficient with MS office products, market data services (e.g., Bloomberg, Datastream, etc.)
  • Coding experience (e.g., R, Python) and proficiency with visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) a plus.
  • A good Degree in Economics/Finance/Statistics etc, with a keen interest in economics and financial markets research.
  • Good interpersonal skills. Strong team player, able to work collaboratively.
