Public Equities (EQ) 
We generate sustainable, superior returns through active investments across global equity markets. Strategies include total return strategies, absolute return strategies, and relative return strategies. Our long-term orientation and strong relationships with corporates provide us with opportunities to capitalize on market volatility to deliver strong investment performance.

 

The Asia Total Return Division, which manages a long-term concentrated portfolio of Asia Pacific stocks, is looking for a junior investment analyst to join the team based in Singapore.

 

What will you do as an Investment Analyst in Public Equities? 

  • Primary role is to serve as an investment analyst for the Japanese, Australian and Asian equity markets as part of a Pan Asian team portfolio
  • Be a key contributor to the management of our equities exposure. This includes building sophisticated financial models, developing cross-sector investment expertise and relationships, analysing companies and making alpha-generating recommendations for Japan, Australia and Asia
  • Ability to synthesise insights from multiple sources into views on industry direction and recommendations on individual stocks
  • Conduct due diligence on portfolio companies or candidates, through corporate engagement, site visits, value-chain analysis, consultation with experts and other investors, meetings with suppliers, customers, competitors and on-the-ground data collection
  • Build relationships with corporates and counterparties and help to generate deal flows

 

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience as an equities analyst, preferably with experience in Japan, Australia or Asia
  • Business level fluency in English (both spoken and written) is required
  • Given the requirement of coverage of investment documents in Japanese, business level fluency in (both spoken and written) Japanese would be an advantage in this role
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with a team of portfolio managers and other investment professionals in managing a team portfolio
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong work ethic and willingness to do on-the-ground work – this role will require travelling in Asia
  • Have the intellectual maturity and drive to conduct deep-dive due diligence on portfolio stocks and candidates
  • Possesses strong understanding of financial concepts and excellent in financial modelling
  • Exceptional attention to details, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
