Investment Services Private Markets & Finance

 

 

The Investment Services Private Market and Finance Department is responsible for investment services for the private market and financial management across the GIC group. It is responsible for providing operations and reporting support to the private market business of GIC as well as budgeting, accounting, payment processing, cash management, tax and financial & management reporting services to all departments, corporate management companies and the global offices of the GIC group. It is involved in deal structuring and closing, transaction processing, administration and accounting of investment holding companies, review of financial controls for asset operations, cash & securities reconciliation, valuation and financial reporting for assets under management, and external debt financing.

We are looking for a suitable candidate to join as an Associate in our Finance and Accounting team to support activities including deal support, operations, valuations, accounting and reporting for the investments within the private market covering private equity, infrastructure, integrated strategies and real estate. This role works closely with the investment teams and other internal and external stakeholders to support various finance functions throughout the investment’s life cycle.

 

Responsibilities

 

• Involved in investment support activities such as implementing the structure (entities and bank accounts set up), prepare KYC documents, arrange funding, invoice processing etc

• Understand the investment type and any considerations to ensure proper recording of the investment for both management reporting and financial accounting purpose

• Review of capital account statement/valuation support from GPs/investee companies for preparation of valuation inputs

• Processing daily transactions and funding requirements

• Liaising with overseas accounting agents on financial accounts and statutory filings for our foreign incorporated subsidiaries, and assisting in the review of financial reports;

• Preparing accounting reconciliations, review of investment holding company accounts and liaison with external auditors;

• Involved in user acceptance testing for enhancements to our accounting system, or assisting in automation and streamlining initiatives;

• Corporate secretarial work relating to investment holding companies

 

Requirements

 

• Bachelor in Accounting/Finance or relevant disciplines.

• 3-6 years relevant accounting work experience in the finance, accounting or private equity industry.

• Excellent communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and have practical working experience with accounting software systems.

• Outstanding analytical skills; able to resolve business problems with well-structured analyses

• Competency to contribute to lively discussion with ability to quickly test findings and assertions against a financial body of knowledge

• Ability to work with large amount of data including synthesizing and analysis

• Experience with visualisation, database and analytical tools

• Thrives on an environment that is fast-paced and rapidly changing

• Must be proactive, high-energy, motivated team player capable of delivering on multiple initiatives
