The Portfolio Execution Group (PEG) comprises teams involved in a broad range of functional roles including trade execution, treasury and currency hedging, securities financing, asset rebalancing, passive replication and portfolio completion as well as applied quantitative research.

 

As part of the strategic drive to position data and research at the centre of PEG’s decision–making for trading and investments, the Applied Research Unit (ARU) is looking for suitable candidates to support the team’s growth.

 

Successful applicants will be responsible for curating insights from our proprietary analytics platforms and preparing supporting analysis and visualisation. They will also be expected to contribute new ideas and content to improve the team’s capabilities.

 

This role offers exposure to all major public market asset classes. Previous experience in financial markets is not essential.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Leverage ARU’s analytics platform to derive insights into portfolio implementation and trade execution and share these ideas with the team. Identify ways to enhance the platform.
  • Support the team by conducting data analysis and visualisation for stakeholders in PEG and across GIC, for example preparing periodic reports on trading performance for investment teams, working with current team members to validate transaction cost and liquidity estimates etc.
  • Contribute to projects which support the team’s research agenda and improve efficiency. Work closely with the technology team to define the scope of work with Agile methodology.

 

Requirements 

  • At least 2 years of data analysis/quantitative research or similar experience.
  • Degree in a technical/quantitative field, preferably at a postgraduate level.
  • Experience working with large datasets.
  • Ability to code independently in languages such as R, Python, SQL, kdb/Q.
  • Strong communication skills, intellectual rigour, and attention to detail.
  • Interest in public markets and finance is preferred.
