Corporate Infrastructure Services Department

The Corporate Infrastructure Services Department (CISD) at GIC focuses on maintaining a best-in-class workplace environment that enables employees to perform at their highest potential. Within CISD, the Enterprise Sourcing & Procurement (ESP) team provides strategic procurement and sourcing support, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements, value optimization, and quality assurance across all organizational activities.

 

The Market Data Category Management and Centre of Excellence sits within ESP with a focus on sourcing and assessing market data services, the full lifecycle support from procuring to ongoing management of the service as well as identifying optimization opportunities.

 

What impact can you make in this role?

The Associate / Assistant Vice President (AVP), Market Data Business Analyst, will play a key role in managing GIC’s market data subscription throughout their lifecycle – from demand assessment and contract renewals to usage analytics and optimization. The role requires a strong understanding of market data products, vendor relationships and internal stakeholders needs.

 

The successful candidate will partner closely with Market Data Category Managers and business teams to ensure robust governance, efficient operations, and data-driven insights that enhance the value from GIC’s market data investments.

 

What will you do as a Market Data Business Analyst?

  • Governance: Advise business on market data compliance  matters and supported related investigations.
  • Review and enhance the effectiveness of the Data Compliance Policy to ensure adherence to vendor and regulatory requirements.
  • Contract and Vendor Management: Oversee the end-to-end renewal of market data contracts, ensuring execution through proactive expiry tracking, stakeholder demand assessment, and negotiation of optimal commercial terms. Manage market data vendors proactively to deliver value to GIC.
  • Process and Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day market data operations, supported by vendor partners, to ensure timely invoice processing, accurate license inventory management, and effective user support.
  • Streamline market data operations processes leveraging systems and automation and incorporating best practices for continuous improvements and operational excellence
  • Data Analytics and Optimization: Lead  reporting and analysis of market data  Usage, and trends to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Partner Business stakeholders and Category Managers to develop actionable insights that improve cost efficiency and data utilization.

 

What qualifications and skills should you possess in this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized tertiary institution, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in data management, finance, or asset management, including at least 3 years of direct, hands-on experience in data management, analytics, or business analysis.
  • Experience Familiarity with major market data providers (Bloomberg, LSEG, S&P) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of using formulas/macros in Excel or coding in Python is advantageous. Proficiency in Excel (formula, macros) and/or Python for data analysis is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of financial instruments and markets.
  • Detail oriented, with strong analytical skills and enjoy solving complex problems.
  • Self-driven and proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to challenge existing processes constructively.
