External Managers Department (EMD)
The External Managers Department seeks to identify and develop relationships with the best breed of global investment managers to benefit GIC at large, and at the same time capturing investment opportunities to outperform our benchmarks.


We are looking for a suitable candidate to join our team as a Portfolio Manager. The candidate will be part of the investment team which invests in funds run by external managers. Portfolio manager responsibilities include conducting manager selection and strategy due diligence, as well as structuring and monitoring fund investments.

 

While the role will be focused on credit funds that invest in structured credit and other securitized products strategies including US residential mortgage related strategies, the candidate will get exposure to other asset classes including equities, macro, and quant.

 

The role will be based in Singapore.

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing, hiring, and monitoring of external fund managers
  • Strategy level analysis, including periodic research, and surfacing potential investment opportunities for the team and GIC at large
  • As part of the credit team, the candidate will help to evaluate potential investments and co-investments in funds by performing quantitative and qualitative analyses on individual fund managers and a portfolio of managers
  • Underwriting and portfolio management of hedge funds and other alternative asset managers


Requirements

  • At least 3 to 5 years of credit experience in a securitized product role on the buy-side or sell-side
  • Previous training as a Credit analyst or Portfolio Manager or experience in an Investment Banking team covering US real estate securities would be preferred
  • Prior Fund or direct investing experience is an advantage but not necessary
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills
  • Excellent analytical ability, strong writing and communication skills and capital markets experience
  • Be highly motivated, intellectually curious and adept at multi-tasking
  • An independent thinker who can articulate his/her views well, both in verbal and written form
  • While comfortable working independently, the candidate should also be a strong team player with ability to collaborate and work well in a team
