Portfolio Execution & Solutions Group​

We have teams in Singapore, London and New York, and we provide a full spectrum of services for the Total Portfolio. These include trading and structured advisory, funding and liquidity management, securities lending, beta management, portfolio rebalancing, applied quantitative research, and counterparty relationship management. We also deliver systematic portfolio solutions and innovation, such as portfolio construction techniques and tail-risk management, to strengthen total portfolio construction and resilience.

 

Portfolio Exposure & Liquidity

You will be part of a team that manages a unified balance sheet, liquidity, financing and rebalancing. The team comprises Treasury, Securities Finance, Beta Management and the new Exposure & Liquidity Research.

The Beta Management team sits within the Portfolio Exposure & Liquidity division of PESG. The team manages global equity beta mandates — portfolios built to track broad market or factor-based indices, ranging from market cap to smart beta — and manages and coordinates cross-asset rebalancing for the Total Portfolio. We are looking for a Portfolio Manager to join our team in Singapore to manage equity beta mandates and cross-asset rebalancing activities, and to contribute to the ongoing development of the processes and platforms used for equity beta management and total portfolio management.

 

What will you do?

  • Carry out day-to-day management of GIC's equity beta portfolios, including:
    • Equitisation, portfolio transition and cross-asset rebalancing activities
    • Index rebalances and corporate actions
    • Monitoring performance, tracking error and risk, implementation cost
  • Design and implement investment strategies around index, market and stock-specific events that may affect the equity beta portfolios
  • Identify and act on opportunities across index, market and stock-specific events, as well as derivative and financing markets, to generate outperformance over time
  • Manage and coordinate Total Portfolio rebalancing and transition activity across asset class departments and internal stakeholder teams
  • Build analytical and quantitative tools to support data-driven decision-making
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and evolution of GIC's portfolio management platforms and capabilities, working with internal teams and external partners

 

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

  • Bachelor's degree, with around 2-5 years of experience in the financial/asset management industry; experience in equity markets, index products and/or portfolio construction and risk management would be a plus
  • Comfortable working with portfolio and market data to support investment decisions
  • Able to take ownership of your own workstreams and to work effectively as part of a team
  • Able to explain quantitative work clearly to specialists and non-specialists, and to build effective working relationships with teams across the firm
  • Programming skills (Python/R/SQL) with demonstrated ability to manipulate and analyse large datasets would be a plus
  • Experience with projects involving technology or systems build would be a plus
