Legal and Compliance Department

The Legal and Compliance Department (LCD) manages the legal, regulatory and compliance risks of GIC. LCD partners with the business to ensure that such issues and risks are dealt with in a considered and timely manner. In the course of your work, you can expect to work with top international and local law firms.

We are looking for a suitable candidate to join our Compliance Division as a Compliance & Admin Associate.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Compliance controls to implement and ensure adherence to policies in GIC’s Compliance Manual and Code of Ethics covering topics such as the information barrier, gifts and entertainment and personal investments of GIC employees.
  • Perform processes to support Compliance’s monitoring of new or changes to position limits in exchange traded futures and options contracts globally. 
  • Support Compliance’s monitoring and surveillance processes through the review and clarifications of employees’ compliance declarations and personal investments, and ensure timely escalation of exceptions.
  • Support the Compliance Division in system enhancements for the implementation of Compliance controls, including performing user acceptance testing and working with the Technology Group to resolve any system related issues.
  • Review and recommend process improvements where applicable. 
  • Maintain the relevant dashboards and providing advice to user-related queries.
  • Analyze and prepare monthly reports for senior management.
  • Provide logistical support for implementation of regular compliance training, including the organizing of training sessions, tracking and registering training attendance. 
  • Provide administrative support for the Compliance Division, including but not limited to processing payments, organizing meetings, updating learning records etc. 

 

Requirements

  • Minimum diploma or degree holder, preferably in Accounting, Business, Finance or related discipline. 
  • Good written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong team player and yet, possess the independence to handle issues with minimum guidance.
  • Possesses strong analytical skills, with a proactive solutioning and growth mindset.
  • Diligent and methodical with attention to details.
  • Broad working knowledge of financial products and financial market processes. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office, data visualization applications like Tableau and some experience in systems testing. 
  • At least 2-4 years’ of relevant compliance experience in the financial services industry will be ideal.
