Internal Audit Department

We provide an independent assessment of GIC’s governance, risk management and internal control environment to key collaborators including the Board of Directors, audit committee, and senior management.

 

Business Audit

You will provide assurance and advisory services across investment groups, both public and private markets, and corporate services functions.

 

What impact can you make in this role?

You will be part of a team that fosters a strong governance and control environment in GIC.

 

What will you do as SVP for Business Audit?

  • Responsible for leading audit, advisory and other ad-hoc assignments, and ensure quality and timely delivery.  This would include executing fieldwork where needed.
  • Provide strong technical and managerial leadership in audits in of public markets and/ or private markets
  • Lead and drive data analytics efforts on assurance activities
  • Regular engagement with business partners to be aware of key changes and new initiatives
  • Build strong rapport and informal work relationships with colleagues across GIC and demonstrate good knowledge of their business
  • Keep abreast of emerging internal and external risk trends as well as industry best practices for areas of coverage that can be applied in recommendations to stakeholders
  • Provide coaching and over-sight to team members and proactively identify staff development opportunities to raise the bench strength of department
  • Continuously engage, motivate and drive people and organizational agenda within team, so as to foster a collaborative and positive work environment
  • Proactively identify advisories that IAD could assist in addressing risk and control concerns before implementation
  • An active member of the IAD leadership team and is able to lead/ support/ contribute to department initiatives

 

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

  • At least 18 years' relevant audit experience in the financial industry
  • Strong team player who is willing to roll up sleeves to execute
  • Proven leadership skills and demonstrated ability to motivate and guide the audit team.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills, ability to think broadly and strategically, assess a variety of factors, recommend a solution and execute well
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Have demonstrated the ability to influence change and obtain buy‐in from senior management and able to adapt own communication styles to the different audience
  • Proven skill to synthesize complex technical concepts into plain language for non-specialist audiences
  • Strong organizational/project management skills and proven ability to efficiently progress multiple assignments
  • Demonstrates personal initiative, strives to innovate and build best practices
  • A continuous learner with a growth mindset who stays on top of business trends
