Finance Department 

Finance Department (FD) is responsible for financial management of the GIC group. We ensure financial stewardship and reporting for the GIC group, and act as Finance Business Partners to optimize corporate financial planning and the use of operating budgets for growth and sustainability. We harness data and technology to create insights for financial decision-making and achieve excellence in financial operations.

 

What impact can you make in this role? 

We are looking for a suitable candidate to join the Finance Business Partner (FBP) team with the Finance Department. As a member of the Finance Business Partnering team, your responsibility includes financial performance management, stakeholder partnership and advisory, driving excellence in the deployment of resources, strategic benchmarking, business performance appraisal, planning and budgeting for the various departments of the GIC Group.

 

What will you do as a Finance Business Partner? 

  • Lead a team of finance business partners to support the technology departments to drive strategic business goals and achieve long-term financial performance. As the focal point of contact for the technology departments, the incumbent will partner senior stakeholders closely to solve business challenges.
  • Provide meaningful financial insights through periodic financial reporting and analysis to steer business performance and manage costs. From the information gathered through various work streams, the incumbent will synthesize information, uncover trends, and deliver insights to improve decision making.
  • Spearhead initiatives to transform and innovate planning, budgeting, reporting & analysis, and key business processes to continuously improve the speed and quality of the financial insights provided to the business to support an efficient and effective resource allocation and optimize use of resources.
  • As a senior member of the Finance Department, the incumbent will participate, engage the relevant business stakeholders and facilitate business discussion as necessary to drive the desired outcome.
  • Strong working knowledge and application of financial planning & budgeting, financial modeling, business controls and operating processes, and execution of corporate policies and procedures to guide the team members and the departments.
  • Assess peer benchmarking results with business performance, identify industry best practices, develop meaningful & relevant operating metrics and adapting them to drive performance excellence.
  • Maintain network with selected peer group functions to keep abreast of latest developments and share knowledge and best practices where possible.

 

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

  • Degree in Finance and Accounting
  • 16 - 18 years of progressive career in finance with the most recent years providing leadership to a team supporting business as the Lead Finance Business Partner
  • Candidates with experience managing and executing significant technology budget in financial institutions and/or large multinationals / conglomerates will be given preference
  • Possess strong stakeholders’ management as the role involves partnering and working closely with senior stakeholders in the technology group and C suites to set and execute on strategic directions. This requires robust skillsets in fact-based analysis, presentation, communication, influencing and strong interpersonal interaction
  • High level of agility; able to move and act fast and make swift changes in directions, plans and decisions to adapt to changing business demands
  • Big picture without losing attention to details, drive to succeed with strong sense of urgency to address business challenges and stakeholders needs, ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced environment
  • Hands-on approach in providing support and guidance to a lean team, and in solutioning for business issues and challenges
  • Possess strong working knowledge in FP&A, controllership, business controls, processes and compliance with the relevant statutory rules and regulations
  • Proficiency in using system tools (EPM, SAP, Tableau etc.) and prior experience supporting system implementation is an added advantage
