Finance Department
Finance Department (FD) is responsible for financial management of the GIC group. We ensure financial stewardship and reporting for the GIC group, and act as Finance Business Partners to optimize corporate financial planning and the use of operating budgets for growth and sustainability. We harness data and technology to create insights for financial decision-making and achieve excellence in financial operations.
What impact can you make in this role?
We are seeking a suitable candidate to lead the Finance Business Partnering team, within the Finance Department that supports our Technology function. This position involves leading a team to transform and continuously enhance the financial planning and analysis for GIC’s technology function and collaborating closely with senior stakeholders to drive GIC’s strategic objectives.
What will you do as a Finance Business Partner (FBP)?
- Develop and transform the FBP practice to more effectively support and partner the Technology function, including shaping the financial framework that underpins GIC's digital and AI strategy.
- Lead the core FBP mandate for the Technology departments of the GIC Group: financial performance management, stakeholder partnership and advisory, resource management governance and excellence, business performance appraisal, and planning and budgeting.
- Guide teams and departments in navigating financial planning & budgeting, financial modelling, business controls and operating processes, and corporate policies and procedures.
- Spearhead initiatives to transform planning, budgeting, reporting & analysis, and key business processes—including leveraging automation and AI within the finance function—to drive more efficient resource allocation and optimize use of resources.
- As a senior member of the Finance Department, provide meaningful financial insights and engage relevant business stakeholders to facilitate business discussions to steer business performance and cost optimization outcomes.
- Assess peer benchmarking results against business performance, identify industry best practices and develop meaningful operating metrics to drive performance excellence.
- Maintain a network with selected peer-group functions to keep abreast of the latest developments and share knowledge and best practices.
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- Degree in Finance and Accounting.
- +15 years of progressive finance experience, with recent years providing leadership to a team directly supporting technology functions in financial institutions and/or large multinationals / conglomerates as the Lead Finance Business Partner.
- Strong stakeholder management, as the role involves partnering closely with senior stakeholders in the Technology group and C-suite to set and execute strategic directions. Requires robust skills in fact-based analysis, presentation, communication, influencing, and interpersonal interaction.
- High level of agility—able to act quickly and adapt directions, plans, and decisions to changing business demands.
- Big-picture orientation without losing attention to detail; a drive to succeed with a strong sense of urgency, and the ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
- Hands-on approach in supporting and guiding the team and in solutioning for business issues and challenges.
- Strong working knowledge of FP&A, controllership, business controls, processes, and compliance with relevant statutory rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in applying automation, and advanced analytics within the finance function. Familiarity with the associated governance, data quality, and control considerations is an added advantage.
