Investment Insights Group
The Investment Insights Group (IIG) comprises of a team of quantitative researchers and data scientists residing in each asset department to harness alternative data and advanced quantitative methods to generate superior investment performance for GIC.  While quantitative researchers reside within specific asset departments alongside investment teams, they are also part of the broader IIG community, which provides ongoing capability development in quantitative techniques, functional mentorship, and exposure to cross-asset projects. We are looking for an experienced Strat to join Equities Data Strategies in driving the ideation, development and adoption of tech and data-driven insights in GIC’s fundamental equities business. 

 

Public Equities (EQ) 
We generate sustainable, superior returns through active investments across global equity markets. Strategies include total return strategies, absolute return strategies, and relative return strategies. Our long-term orientation and strong relationships with corporates provide us with opportunities to capitalize on market volatility to deliver strong investment performance.

You will be part of a team that uses advanced quantitative methods, alternative data, and technology to generate superior investment performance.

 

What will you do as an SVP, Lead Quant Strat (Single Name Insights)? 

  • Develop products and strategies to augment fundamental research using big/alternative data by:
    • Generating company and industry level insights to augment company research deep dives  
    • Transforming best-in-class datasets into quantamental-based investment strategies and insights 
    • Utilising quantitative methods, Machine Learning and LLMs to deepen contextual augmentation , including using AI / econometrics to forecast key company KPIs and performance drivers using a combination of macro and/or alternative data sources 
    • Drive impact to portfolio performance through communicating and demonstrating impact to EQ’s research analysts and portfolio managers
  • Drive engagement and adoption of these tools within Equities’ investing teams
  • Inspire, develop and rejuvenate the junior talents in the team
  • Take leadership in bridging technical and investment domains, translating ideas and discussions into implementable ideas. 
  • Partner with technologists on implementation 
  • Engage with external counterparties (brokers, buy-side peers and third party providers) to landscape and learn about new datasets and innovations 

 

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

  • A Master’s Degree in Economics, Statistics or Mathematics,  with CFA preferred
  • At least 10 years of experience in investing, Financial Modelling or Quant Research role, ideally in a fundamental equities setting 
  • In depth knowledge of alternative datasets used for insights generation 
  • Proficiency in Python or R 
  • Experience in managing teams
  • Entrepreneurial spirit – Comfortable working in unstructured environments, and strong ability to do business development 
  • Highly creative – able to ideate solutions and strategies 
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills, particularly in explaining technical concepts to a broad audience
