Risk & Performance Management Department

In Risk & Performance Management Department (RPMD), we work collaboratively across teams to identify and address potential blind spots, ensuring that all relevant risks are considered and duly addressed.

Operational Risk Management

The Operational Risk Management (ORM) team is responsible for driving and managing the corporate operational risk management programme within GIC. Operational risk tools and analytics are developed to better inform management about the operational risk landscape. We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated individual to join the team as an Assistant Vice President/ Vice President, focusing on data analytics to strengthen risk and control oversight.

What impact can you make in this role?

Reporting to the Head of Operational Risk, you will be the principal partner in designing and embedding the ERM framework as the team expands its current risk responsibilities. You will be responsible for designing the framework and the subsequent implementation, including writing the standards, running the first assessments, building the reporting, and bringing the business along.

What will you do in this role?

Building the enterprise risk capability

  • Partner with the Head of Operational Risk to design the ERM framework — risk taxonomy, risk appetite statement and tolerances, governance structure, escalation protocols — drawing on recognised standards such as COSO ERM and ISO 31000.
  • Translate framework design into working artefacts: policies, standards, procedures, templates, and assessment methodologies.
  • Build the enterprise risk register and lead the first cycle of enterprise-level risk identification and assessment across investment, operational, technology, cyber, third-party, conduct, regulatory, and emerging risks.
  • Develop enterprise-level risk reporting for the Executive Committee and Board Risk Committee, including KRIs, thresholds, and dashboard design.
  • Support in clarifying where ERM adds value and where responsibilities sit.

Strengthening operational risk

  • Strengthen core operational risk processes, which may include the RCSA program, risk event and near-miss reporting, root cause analysis, remediation tracking, and loss data management.
  • Strengthen operational resilience and business continuity practices, including critical business service mapping and impact tolerances.
  • Provide risk input into new products, vendors, outsourcing arrangements and change initiatives.

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

  • 8–12 years in enterprise risk management ideally within asset management, sovereign wealth, pension, insurance or banking.
  • Direct experience of an ERM build-out or a comparable risk transformation, rather than only operating in a mature framework.
  • Experience in operational risk management in financial services industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with in-depth knowledge of enterprise risk tools and best practices as well as good understanding of the financial services industry.
  • Strong abilities in embracing change, communicating the need for change, and applying forward thinking in initiating process improvements and transformation.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, and to influence across different business areas and seniority level.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
