What impact can you make in this role?
As a Production Support Lead, you will drive the stability, resilience, and optimal performance of GIC’s mission-critical core applications and platforms. Leading a high-performing production support function, you will serve as a strategic partner to both business and engineering teams. In this role, you will champion reliable, scalable, and intelligent technology operations, while proactively minimizing operational risks to establish and maintain a robust, secure posture across the production environment—directly advancing GIC’s vision as a technology-driven, global, long-term investment firm.
What will you do as a Production Support Lead?
- Support Operations Management: Architect, optimize, and govern the L1/L2 Production Support operational model across a multi-functional ecosystem, including:
- Enterprise Data Platform
- Corporate Technology
- Investment and Data Workflows
- Research and Analytics
- Proactive Environment Governance: Define and oversee the environment monitoring strategy, leveraging enterprise observability tools and predictive dashboards to ensure the high availability, capacity, and performance of production environments.
- Incident & Problem Leadership: Command high-severity incident response efforts; drive institutional problem management frameworks and root cause analysis (RCA) to eliminate recurring systemic risks and minimize business disruption.
- Release & Change Governance: Champion the rigorous governance of application changes, patch deployments, and infrastructure upgrades, enforcing zero-downtime methodologies and strict risk mitigation controls.
- Security & Risk Posture Management: Drive the enforcement of security hygiene, vulnerability remediation, and compliance standards within production environments to maintain an uncompromised, secure operational posture.
What makes you a successful candidate?
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience: 15+ years of proven track record in Production Support, Application Operations, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), featuring at least 3+ years of technical leadership, mentoring, or team steering experience within a high-stakes financial or enterprise environment.
- Technical & Architectural Expertise:
- Enterprise Observability: Deep expertise in architecting and leveraging enterprise monitoring, logging, and observability frameworks (e.g., Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace, Prometheus) to drive proactive system health management.
- Modern Inrastructure & Cloud: Robust understanding of cloud-native architectures (e.g., AWS, Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), with the ability to navigate complex, hybrid environments.
- Data Ecosystems: Strong proficiency in enterprise database systems (e.g., MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and modern data lake/analytics platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks).
- Systems & Security Hygiene: Solid foundation in core operating systems (Linux, Windows) and enterprise application architectures, with a strong eye for security posture, vulnerability management, and infrastructure hardening.
- Domain, Investment Workflow & Emerging Tech Knowledge:
- Enterprise Data & Analytics Platforms: Comprehensive operational knowledge of enterprise data platforms (e.g., Databricks) and modern data warehousing technologies (e.g., Snowflake), with a deep understanding of data lake operations, orchestration, and pipeline monitoring.
- AI & Machine Learning Operational Understanding: Practical understanding of AI/ML technologies and operational frameworks (e.g., LLM deployments, MLOps, vector databases, model monitoring), enabling the team to effectively support and troubleshoot AI-driven applications and intelligent technology operations.
- Analytics & Business Intelligence: Strategic exposure to downstream data consumers, Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA) reporting, or advanced business intelligence ecosystems (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Core Leadership Competencies:
- Crisis Command & Resilience: Demonstrated ability to lead incident response and maintain operational composure in high-pressure, mission-critical environments.
- Root Cause Elimination: Exceptional analytical and architectural problem-solving skills, with a relentless focus on permanent problem management over temporary fixes.
- Strategic Stakeholder Advisory: Superb communication and presentation skills, capable of translating complex technical issues into clear business impact for executive stakeholders.
- Automation Advocate: A proven mindset for automation, continuous delivery, and process engineering, with a track record of reducing operational toil through scripting or modern tooling.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or equivalent experience
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in IT project / program management, business analysis, project delivery and/or product management
- Demonstrated experience in leading complex projects and implementing enterprise-level software solutions
- Strong understanding of budgeting and business planning
- Good team player who is keen to learn, independent, and possesses strong analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Strong communicator with the ability to iterate through the requirements in phases, ensuring alignment with business sponsors, stakeholders, and department objectives
