Risk & Performance Management Department
In Risk & Performance Management Department (RPMD), we work collaboratively across teams to identify and address potential blind spots, ensuring that all relevant risks are considered and duly addressed.
Credit Risk Management
You will be part of a team that ensures that GIC deals with financially sound and reputable counterparties.
What will you do as Head, Credit Risk Management?
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to the CRM team, department and organisation for all counterparty credit risk related matters
- Ensure that GIC’s risk management framework and guidelines remain effective in managing the credit risk of trading counterparties and service providers
- Approve or recommend for approval appropriate credit risk appetite, counterparty specific credit limits and risk mitigation measures for GIC’s counterparties and service providers
- Ensure an understanding of key credit risks and exposures among stakeholders, and facilitate responsible and effective risk-taking in line with GIC’s counterparty credit risk appetite and objectives
- Keep abreast of changes in operating environment and regulations, and assess and address the potential impacts on counterparty credit risk
- Maintain strong control and governance processes as well as manage day-to-day onboarding of counterparties or service providers, and compliance monitoring of approved credit limits, guidelines and restrictions
- Oversee the reporting of GIC’s credit exposure to counterparties and investment-related service providers to senior management, risk governance committees and client
- Ensure that adequate systems and infrastructure are in place to support all CRM activities
- Build a strong team of counterparty credit risk subject matter experts (SMEs) and risk management capabilities, leveraging on latest technology and techniques.
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- Minimum of 15 years relevant experience, including at least 10 years in credit approval and risk management, with a demonstrated leadership track record at leading financial institutions.
- Excellent interpersonal, communications and presentation skills with ability to work cross-functionally, across different business areas and seniority level, and to synthesise detailed information.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Strong analytical skills with sound knowledge of financial instruments and their associated credit risk.
- Broad experience in credit risk management and mitigation practices as well as issues and developments affecting the financial industry
- Familiarity with credit risk measurement methodology, as well as credit processes.
- Experience in the implementation of AI tools in credit risk management will be favourably considered.
