Investment Services Private Market
The Investment Services Private Market (ISPVM) Department provides strategic investment services and financial management for the Private Markets within the GIC group. Leveraging data and emerging technologies, the department oversees the development and implementation of business infrastructural plans and operating models to scale GIC’s alternative asset investments globally. This covers deal structuring, due diligence and closing, financial operations across GIC’s assets, as well as tax structuring, corporate holding structures, valuations, and financial reporting.
Business Strategy & Management (ISPVM)
The Investment Services Private Markets (ISPVM) department at GIC is looking to onboard a Vice President for our business strategy and management efforts. This role will be pivotal in shaping our strategic direction and ensuring effective implementation of strategies across the department.
What will you do as a Business Manager?
- Strategy Development: Formulate and implement comprehensive business strategies and action plans to drive organizational growth and efficiency.
- Understand the strategic agenda and priorities of the business. Develop and drive implementation of new business operating models, programs, processes and tools to deliver synergies and strategic outcomes
- Partner across GIC functional teams to drive operational excellence, investment process digitalization and optimization and jointly formulate cross-departmental initiatives in line with strategic objectives
- Collaborate with partners and service providers to drive strategic market infrastructure evolution and best practices for private markets
- Produce meaningful analytics and insights to report on and support decision making around strategy performance, financials, resources and budgets
- Project Management: Oversee enterprise and departmental projects and initiatives, ensuring effective change management and alignment with enterprise strategic goals for the department’s Data, Technology and Operating models.
- Serve as catalyst to translate enterprise-level strategies into business-specific implementation plans for private markets
- Work across GIC data, technology and operations teams for native private markets platform development, data governance and management models, and analytics capabilities
- Drive active monitoring of change implementation; design and roll-out change management interventions and ensure timely and effective adaptation of implementation plans as needed
- Business Management: Develop and operationalize enterprise and departmental policies and frameworks to enhance organizational performance.
- Oversee departments operational and financial metrics.
- Review training and development initiatives for the Department.
- Manage stakeholder, organisational surveys and follow-up actions
- Business Administration: Manage administrative functions to support the overall business operations.
- Maintain ongoing oversight and management of budget, cost, and business administrations
- Support annual business planning and budgeting process
- Support ad hoc business needs and drive deliveries aligning with business agenda
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- Good degree in Business, Finance or related fields with minimum 7 years relevant working experience in the financial services industry and/or in strategy consulting
- Proven experience in strategic planning and project management.
- Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills; ability to communicate strategically yet operate at a tactical level when required.
- Ability to drive change and foster collaboration across departments.
- A versatile, proactive self-starter. Thrive on navigating ambiguity, while managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Robust data analytics capabilities; ability to translate complex information into clear insights
- Solid knowledge of the private markets business is favorable
