Investment Data Portfolio Solutions
This role focuses on providing investment data solutions, with an emphasis on managing enterprise data related to the Investment Book of Records (IBOR) and Reference Data. This critical function supports investment management capabilities for public market asset classes, ensuring data integrity, operational efficiency, and portfolio accuracy.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in portfolio data management, a deep understanding of public market asset classes, and a proven ability to collaborate across investment and operations teams.
What will you do as an VP, Data Management?
1. Data Management:
- Maintain and oversee the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of IBOR and Security Master Data used in day-to-day portfolio management
- Ensure accurate representation of security identifiers, pricing, corporate actions, and other critical data points to support trading and portfolio construction
- Partner with third-party data providers and internal operations teams to resolve data discrepancies and implement data governance standards
2. Portfolio Solutions Development:
- Collaborate with Front Office to design and implement solutions that enhance decision-making and enable operational efficiency for Middle Office and Back Office functions
- Use technology to automate data processes and workflows, including reconciliation and validation tools to minimize data-related risks
- Integrate data across portfolio / order management systems, trading platforms and risk platforms
- Create and maintain dashboards and reports for portfolio analytics, compliance, and performance attribution
- Work to improve data visualization and accessibility for investment teams
3. Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as a liaison between investment teams, operations, data governance, and IT/technology teams to align on data strategies and solve complex issues
- Collaborate with technology teams to enhance and optimize systems such as IBOR and security master platforms
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM, or CAIA) are a plus
- Experience: 6+ years in a similar investment operations, portfolio data management, or front-office facing role at an asset management firm, hedge fund, or related institution
- Technical Skills:
- Experience with investment management platforms such as BlackRock Aladdin, Charles River IMS, State Street Alpha, or Bloomberg AIM
- Proficiency in SQL. Intermediate Excel skills, including VBA (macros)
- Familiarity with ETL tools, data pipelines, and APIs
- Experience using Python or Artificial Intelligence to perform EDA preferred
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of IBOR, Security Master Data, and public market asset classes such as equities, fixed income, and derivatives
