External Managers Department
The External Managers Department seeks to identify and develop relationships with the best breed of global investment managers capture attractive investment opportunities across major asset classes such as hedge funds, equities and fixed income..
We are seeking an experienced professional to join us as Lead Quantitative Strategist. In this role, you will lead, drive, and conduct quantitative research and analysis on different style managers and strategies ranging from discretionary macro, multi-assets, equities, credit, and quant to deliver impactful insights and tools that enhance our investment decision-making process.
What impact can you make in this role?
You will get to lead a specialize team of quantitative professionals to grow their career and expertise in harnessing data, quantitative and AI/ML methods to provide holistic and comprehensive data and evidence based driven insights and recommendations that drives our investment decision-making. You will get to augment, innovate, and shape the different stages of our investment process with quantitative and AI/ML methods and tools to amplify our breadth, depth, and scale in generating investment performance. Additionally, you will shape the department's data and analytical capabilities, helping to institutionalize and expand our collective domain knowledge.
What will you do as a Lead Quantitative Strategist?
- Thought partner to department and investment heads in harnessing data, quantitative and AI/ML methods to augment the respective investment processes.
- Thought partner to help shape the department’s data and analytical capabilities, landscape and ecosystem.
- Lead, guide and manage quantitative research and analysis work across the investment process ranging from screening of managers, manager selection and strategy due diligence to portfolio construction, ensuring research quality and on time delivery.
- Oversee and govern models, analysis, and tools implementation to ensure conformance to best practices, team wide tools and infrastructure.
- Manage and run team’s model and analytics operations.
- Aid in sharing and cross fertilizing of quantitative applications, analysis, and tools across departments, surfacing macro insights to the team and GIC at large.
- Perform quantitative research and analysis with a primary focus on capital allocations, portfolio constructions, optimizations, and risks.
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- Advanced degree in fields such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Economics
- 8-12 years of relevant experiences in quantitative research and analysis, with a focus on applying quantitative methods and AI/ML in capital allocation, portfolio construction, optimization, and risk management
- Experience in a fund allocator setting is a plus
- Good understandings of macro, credit and equities investing and/or capital markets.
- Proficiency in R or Python and SQL
- Be highly motivated, intellectually curious and adept at multi-tasking
- Independent thinker who is able articulate his/her views well, both in verbal and written form
- Strong team player who is comfortable in fostering new internal and external relationships
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to understand, influence and obtain buy-in from stakeholders effectively.
