Risk and Performance Management Department (RPMD)
In Risk & Performance Management Department (RPMD), we work collaboratively across teams to identify and address potential blind spots, ensuring that all relevant risks are considered and duly addressed.
Enterprise Risk and Performance
The Enterprise Risk and Performance (ERP) team within RPMD is responsible for integrated total portfolio risk management across investment, liquidity, leverage, sustainability, and other transversal risks. The team delivers independent assessments of investment risks and performance drivers, provides constructive challenge on portfolio design, and capital allocation decisions and leads the strategic development of total portfolio risk analytics and model risk management capabilities.
What will you do as a Risk Analytics Product Manager?
This role offers the opportunity to shape GIC’s next-generation portfolio analytics capabilities and contribute to the firm’s long-term investment and risk management excellence. The role sits within the ERP team and focuses on driving the strategic buildout of enterprise-level risk analytics, bringing industry best practices to enhance GIC’s analytical capabilities. This positions bridges business needs, quantitative methodologies and institutional-grade software solutions.
As a Product Manager, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of a major risk analytics product or domain. Acting as the “CEO” of your product suite, you will define the strategic vision, manage a multi-year roadmap, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams — including risk managers, quantitative analysts, and technologists— to deliver high-impact analytics that meet the evolving business needs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Define and own the multi-year product vision and roadmap for your analytics domain.
- Align product goals with firm-wide business requirements and priorities, ensuring technical development supports long-term institutional capabilities.
- Act as a thought leader, collaborating with business users (investment teams and risk managers) to conceptualize new features and enhancements.
2. Stakeholder Management & Advisory
- Build and manage relationships across business, technology, and quantitative functions.
- Understand the underlying business context of user requests to provide expert guidance on product usage and design.
- Promote world-class risk management practices through user engagement, training and demonstrations.
3. Technical Collaboration & Delivery Oversight
- Partner with Project Managers to oversee end-to-end delivery, ensuring methodological consistency, functional integrity, and technical scalability.
- Lead high-level planning and milestone setting, maintaining delivery discipline and alignment with scope and timelines.
4. Risk Analytics & Methodology Integration
- Develop a deep understanding of risk methodologies (e.g. VaR, sensitivities, stress testing) and their applications, data sources, and limitations.
- Ensure consistent and best-practice implementation of methodologies across product features.
- Collaborate with validation teams to confirm methodological soundness and fitness for purpose.
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- Education: Graduate degree (Master’s or PhD) in a quantitative or technical discipline such as Finance, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or Engineering.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience developing analytical software (including methodology and coding) within a major financial institution or financial technology firm. Minimum 3 years of Product Management experience, including delivery of complex financial systems, stakeholder management and full software development lifecycle management – from use case definition to UAT and production deployment. Exposure to risk or portfolio management is advantageous.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of risk methodologies including multi-asset modelling, Monte Carlo simulations, and factor-based models.
- Skills: Proficiency in Python and experience with large-scale data pipelines and risk engine computations.
- Leadership: Proven ability to communicate and "sell" ideas effectively, influence senior stakeholders, and lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Proactive, highly motivated, organized, and able to deliver under tight deadlines.
