Finance Department
Finance Department (FD) is responsible for financial management of the GIC group. We ensure financial stewardship and reporting for the GIC group, and act as Finance Business Partners to optimise corporate financial planning and the use of operating budgets for growth and sustainability. We harness data and technology to create insights for financial decision-making and achieve excellence in financial operations.
What impact can you make in this role?
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced accounting professional with a strong track record in statutory reporting and financial governance to join the Financial Accounting Team within the Finance Department.
As the Statutory and Governance Team Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy and compliance of statutory financial reporting across multiple jurisdictions, while strengthening the governance and control environment that underpins GIC's global operations.
You will serve as a technical accounting authority, lead the relationship with external auditors and regulators, and drive continuous improvement by leveraging technology (including automation and AI) to deliver high-quality, scalable and well-controlled statutory and governance processes in support of GIC's global business objectives.
What will you do in the Statutory and Governance team?
- Statutory Reporting: Lead the preparation, review and timely filing of statutory financial statements for entities across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring full compliance with local GAAP, IFRS and applicable regulatory requirements. Oversee the end-to-end statutory close, coordinate group consolidation inputs, and ensure consistency between management and statutory reporting.
- Governance and Controls: Own the design, implementation and enforcement of a robust control framework to safeguard financial integrity and manage operational and compliance risks. Ensure adherence to internal policies, accounting standards, tax and regulatory requirements and maintain a strong governance posture across all legal entities.
- Audit and Regulatory Liaison: Manage the external audit process end-to-end, serving as the primary point of contact for auditors and ensuring the timely, high-quality resolution of audit queries. Coordinate statutory, tax and regulatory filings and support company secretarial and entity governance matters across jurisdictions.
- Continuous Improvement and Transformation: Drive continuous improvement of statutory and governance processes through technology adoption, organisation design changes and process re-engineering. Champion automation, digitalisation and AI-enabled initiatives to enhance the efficiency, accuracy and transparency of statutory reporting and controls.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with other Finance teams, business units and corporate functions to deliver on business and functional objectives. Serve as a key liaison for external auditors, tax advisors, regulators and outsourced service providers on statutory and governance matters.
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy and professional certifications such as CA, CPA
- At least 12 years of progressive career in a similar role, prior experience in financial/internal audit will be preferred
- Experience people leader who can effectively manage and develop a high-performing team
- A transformational and effective change agent with proven track record to deliver on impactful business imperatives
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP, with familiarity in direct/indirect tax and statutory/regulatory reporting requirements
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective controls and governance frameworks to mitigate financial and operational risks
- Strong stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work closely with internal and external stakeholders across levels to deliver on finance and governance solutions
- Strong communicator, hands-on, resilient and quick to adapt to changing business demands and work collaboratively across functions to co-create and drive solutions
- Strong proficiency in SAP and various finance systems & tools (Anaplan, Analytics tools etc)
