Finance Department
Finance Department (FD) is responsible for financial management of the GIC group. We ensure financial stewardship and reporting for the GIC group, and act as Finance Business Partners to optimise corporate financial planning and the use of operating budgets for growth and sustainability. We harness data and technology to create insights for financial decision-making and achieve excellence in financial operations.
What impact can you make in this role?
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced accounting professional with a track record of success overseeing global financial operations to join the Financial Accounting Team with the Finance Department. As a member of the Financial Accounting team, you are responsible for ensuring operational excellence, process efficiency and strong financial governance across core finance processes, including accounts payable, travel and expense management, general ledger and financial controls. In addition, you will drive continuous improvement, leverage technology (including automation and AI) and foster collaboration across regional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable finance operations in support of GIC’s global business objectives.
What will you do in the Financial Accounting team?
- Finance Operations: Lead the global finance operations team to ensure timely, accurate and compliant execution of finance processes across multiple jurisdictions. Oversee daily operations covering accounts payable, travel and expense management, treasury activities and month-end close accounting activities.
- Governance and Controls: Responsible for implementing robust and appropriate controls to manage operational risks and enforce governance. Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures, accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement and Transformation: Drive continuous improvement through technology adoption, organisation design changes and process re-engineering. Champion automation, digitalisation and AI-enabled initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy and data-driven decision-making. Partner with the Technology Group to ensure that finance systems are optimised and performing efficiently and effectively. Lead or contribute to global finance transformation projects and data analytics initiatives.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with regional Finance teams, business units and corporate functions to deliver on business and functional objectives. Serve as a key liaison for banks, vendors and outsourced agents on finance operation matters.
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy and professional certifications such as CA, CPA
- At least 12 years of progressive career in a similar role, prior experience in financial/internal audit will be preferred
- Experience people leader who can effectively manage and develop a high-performing team
- A transformational and effective change agent with proven track record to deliver on impactful business imperatives
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS and familiarity with direct/indirect tax requirements
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective business controls and processes to mitigate operational risks
- Possess strong stakeholders’ engagement and problem-solving skills as the role involves working closely with stakeholders across levels within and outside of the business to deliver on finance solutions
- Strong communicator, hands-on, resilient and quick to adapt to changing business demands and work collaboratively across functions to co-create and drive solutions
- Strong proficiency in SAP and various finance systems & tools (Concur, Power BI, Tableau, Analytics tools etc), coupled with implementation experience will be highly desirable
