Investment Services Public Markets, or ISPM, is an integrated investment service team that uses data and emerging technologies to provide services for public market investment activities strategically and tactically. The team is responsible for business management functions for all public market investment strategy groups, as well as GIC’s global trade operations, custody control and asset servicing such as income entitlements, mergers and acquisitions and other corporate events of our underlying investments, futures and derivative operations, collateral management, pricing and rates, market data and rebalancing operations. The coverage extends across a spectrum of products such as equities, bonds, money market, foreign exchange, futures, collateralized securities and other derivatives.

 

We are looking for a Business Manager to support the fixed income department.  The successful candidate will support fixed income investment strategies in delivering Sustainable Top Quartile Performance.  Accordingly, they are required to interact with people at all levels across the firm.  He/She will also work closely with teams in Singapore, London and New York, as well as counterparties and service providers across the globe.
 

Business Managers are embedded with the business and lead a team of staff responsible for portfolio support and control. They work with CIOs in strategy execution, building new capabilities, developing new products, overseeing governance and controls and technology rollouts as well as in general business management functions such as resource and budget planning.   A major focus recently has been in the investment of technology and data to improve business intelligence and accelerate smart data driven decisions.

 

The general business management responsibilities include:

 

  • Produce meaningful analytics to report strategy performance, financials, review pipelines, resources and budgets.
  • Work closely with business heads to develop new products, manage deal pipeline and transaction execution and assist with business cases to achieve target value add.
  • Represent the front office in working groups, corporate management, risk and BCP forums, ensuring front office feedback and requirements are accurately captured and actively considered, while maintaining oversight on risk and governance.
  • Project lead in change initiatives from initiation to post-implementation, including interfacing with other functions across GIC.
  • Manage stakeholder across investment teams to deliver on initiatives and projects on a timely basis, with considered impact on the front office especially for corporate initiatives.
  • Resolve front office issues and potential road-blockers arising from execution, operational, risk and compliance considerations. 
  • Proactively consider and implement process improvements, achieving sufficient gains in efficiencies and cost reductions.
  • Monitor of recurring activities to ensure strict compliance to risk and compliance policies.
  • Assist CIOs with resource management and allocation across the business.
  • Ensure business continuity.

 

Requirements

 

  • Strong knowledge of fixed income and structured instruments.
  • Strong analytical abilities with an eye for details, and good interpersonal, project management, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate and think strategically, yet operate at a tactical level.
  • Good Degree in Finance, Business or related fields with minimum 15 years relevant working experience in the financial services industry.
  • Good knowledge of public market instruments, and additional qualifications like CFA would be favourably considered.
