Economics & Investment Strategy

We manage the Total Portfolio to earn sustainable returns over the long-term, and enable the flexibility to navigate the path over the shorter term.

What impact can you make in this role?

You will articulate GIC’s strategic outlook, determine asset exposures and benchmarks, implement new return streams and investment models, and optimise the risk-reward of the GIC Portfolio.

You will help to characterise the outlook for the global macro investment environment, conduct strategic research, and contribute to the Global Research Network. You will also be given the opportunity to develop medium-term investment strategies for the total portfolio, and help with the management of key top-of-the-house portfolios.

What will you do as a Emerging Markets Equity Strategist?

• Provide leadership in formulation of emerging market equity strategy for the GIC Portfolio
• Develop actionable investment recommendations at the aggregate EM equity level, as well as at a country and sector level 
• Work with team members to conduct scenario analysis and advise on optimal asset allocation across global Emerging Markets
• Help to manage and refine team’s overall investment framework and processes

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

• 7-10 years' investment experience analysing emerging market equities, either as strategy team lead or as senior member
• Direct experience in testing market and economic variables, and building top-down market models
• Strong analytical abilities, proficient with MS office products, market data services (e.g. Bloomberg, Datastream, etc.)
• R/python knowledge helpful but not essential
• A solid understanding of fundamental investment concepts and return drivers, sound economic and market judgment, and an ability to anticipate key issues that will impact the portfolio
• Able to formulate independent views and investment recommendations
• Able to link the dots, with strong written and spoken communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills. Able to work collaboratively and foster internal debate
