Data Strategy Group
We build our data architecture in a robust operational environment with scale and efficiency. Data is meaningful in a functional, discoverable, and accessible format to power GIC’s innovative investment strategies.
Data Engineering
You will help to engineer outstanding data solutions to deliver data services at scale. Using modern and innovative data technologies, the team enables GIC colleagues to securely, and seamlessly access data.

What will you do as a Solutions Architect?
Be part of an ambitious team that provides investment data services for enterprise activities. You can make a difference in our forward-looking journey to shape our world of investments.
- Play a pivotal role in building and supporting enterprise investment data & analytics systems consumed by investment professionals and platforms across the firm. You will also develop and maintain relationships with business leaders, product management and technical teams to understand priorities and expected business outcomes
- Develop business solutions using your strong analytical skills, and help the team bring technology value directly to the business. You will also be exposed to key investment processes across the firm, learning valuable business domain knowledge
- Lead solution architectures for fast-moving agile projects and hands-on with modern technologies, including as ReactJS, Python/Java, Docker. You will also work with external experts and solution architects on with AWS cloud native technologies
- Actively provide technical leadership, direction and mentorship to raise the quality bar for engineering talent – attracting, retaining, and improving the best developers in the industry
- Become an excellent team player with a collaborative mind-set, you will work directly with investment and technology professionals at different levels. You will also work alongside experienced professionals across our extended Technology team in GIC as well as have exchanges with other industry partners
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

- 12 or more years of relevant technology experience preferably in financial risk services or asset management industries, including 5-8 years of experience in leading and managing software development teams to deliver impactful outcomes
- Demonstrates strong people leadership experience to connect with the needs and growth of software engineers and guide hands-on development to demonstrate their mentorship and connectedness with the everyday needs of developers
- Track record of engage with business stakeholders in all functions and levels. Ability to collaborate and influence cross-department business and technical partners to contribute to the development of technical strategies
- Earns high advocacy and loyalty from teams through strong managerial competence, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and high performance, and has willingness to learn with attention to detail, demonstrating a strong passion in technology and/or finance
- Practical experience in the use of Agile, Scrum, and Kanban for project delivery
- Good presentation skills, and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences, effectively translating complex technical concepts into business terms
- Extensive engineering experience in the following:
- AWS services such as Glue/Batch, S3, SQS, SNS, EKS, etc
- SQL and/or relational database – Postgres, Oracle, Snowflake
- Data transformational tools – Python/Pandas/DBT/PySpark
- Java / (C# .NET Core), and/or similar OOP frameworks
- Docker / Kubernetes / Github workflow, and/or other devops capabilities
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related discipline is advantageous
